The Philippine Mental Health Association Dumaguete Chapter joins Girls Congress in an outreach activity at Canlaon City on February 21, 2026. The event was held at Canlaon City gymnasium which currently serves as the evacuation center of the families affected by Typhoon Tino.

PMHA Dumaguete, together with volunteers from Holy Name University Psychology interns and mental health professionals, leads in the art session activity and focus group discussion. Participated by kids, the art session serves as an avenue for kids to express and help process their feelings, check in with themselves, and shares their experiences during the calamity. Partnered with focus group discussion, the program hopes to encapsulate the experiences of the children and its similarities and differences, and how the calamity has changed their roles and daily living.

Learning kits were also distributed to the participants by the end of the program.

Our deepest gratitude to Girls Congress and UN Women for this initiative and to our volunteers for joining with us in making this day worthwhile.

When purpose meets understanding and real conversations, we hope that beyond our goals, we were able to share a meaningful experience with everybody β€” holding safe spaces for conversations.
