Neurology Physical Examination and Bedside Rounds 🧠
The Neurology Physical Examination and Bedside Rounds was a valuable learning experience that bridged knowledge and real patient care. The activity provided residents and clerks the opportunity to systematically apply neurological examination skills — from mental status and cranial nerve testing to motor, sensory, reflex, and coordination assessment. Under the guidance of our new neurologist, Dr. Bonifacio Pedregosa, each case was approached with clinical reasoning: localizing the lesion, formulating a differential diagnosis, and correlating findings with neuroanatomy and imaging. The bedside setting emphasized not only technical proficiency but also the importance of communication, empathy, and professionalism when dealing with patients with neurological deficits.
Beyond skill-building, the rounds reinforced the essence of neurology as both a science and an art. The experience also reminded us that a thorough neurologic exam remains one of the most powerful diagnostic tools, even in the age of advanced imaging.
