March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month 💙

On March 21, 2026, the UP-PGH Division of Gastroenterology conducted screening colonoscopy at Central Endoscopy Unit as part of our commitment to early detection and prevention of colon cancer.

Screening colonoscopy not only detects cancer, it also helps prevent it through endoscopic polypectomy, allowing removal of potentially precancerous polyps.

If you are 45 years or older, or have risk factors for colon cancer, you may reach us for a screening colonoscopy.

With timely screening, we can detect lesions early, intervene promptly, and save lives.

On March 19, 2026, the UP-PGH Division of Gastroenterology, in collaboration with the Division of Medical Oncology, successfully held a Lay Forum dedicated to raising awareness on colon cancer.

Through an engaging discussion, open Q&A, and a “Facts vs Myths” segment, we empowered patients, families, and the community with knowledge that can save lives. From understanding the risk factors and symptoms of colon cancer to the importance of early screening, every conversation brought us one step closer to better prevention and early detection.

Colon cancer is preventable, treatable, and beatable.
Let’s continue this campaign and encourage everyone to get screened.
