In line with its unwavering commitment to quality healthcare, public health excellence, and continuous workforce development, Flora District Hospital conducted an Orientation on PIDSR Case Definitions for its employees. The activity served as an important platform for enhancing the knowledge and competencies of healthcare workers in disease surveillance, case detection, classification, and reporting.

To assess participantsโ€™ baseline knowledge and measure learning outcomes, a pre-test was administered prior to the orientation, followed by a post-test upon completion of the session. This approach provided valuable insights into the effectiveness of the activity and demonstrated the participantsโ€™ increased understanding of PIDSR case definitions and surveillance protocols.

The orientation emphasized the vital role of standardized case definitions in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of health information. As part of the observance of Dengue and Leptospirosis Awareness Month, the healthcare team of Flora District Hospital conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activity today for patients and watchers at the Outpatient Department (OPD). The activity aimed to increase awareness about the causes, symptoms, prevention, and early treatment of these common rainy-season diseases.

Patients were educated on the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites to prevent dengue and avoiding contact with floodwaters or contaminated water to reduce the risk of leptospirosis. The discussion also emphasized the importance of early consultation and seeking immediate medical attention when symptoms occur.
