Among adults with recurrent acute , endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) with continued medical treatment demonstrated significant improvement in disease-specific quality of life at 6 months compared to medical treatment alone.
In this randomized clinical trial, ESS resulted in greater mean reduction in SinoNasal Outcome Test 22 scores and a higher proportion of patients achieving a clinically meaningful improvement, with minor complications observed.
The findings provide evidence that ESS is effective and well tolerated in patients whose symptoms are inadequately controlled with conservative therapy.
