CBC Mistake That Can Change the Entire Diagnosis

🩸 Most anemia mistakes start here

MCV, MCH, and MCHC look simple, but one wrong combination can completely mislead your diagnosis.

This visual breaks it down clearly 👇
• MCV tells you the size of RBCs
• MCH tells you how much hemoglobin each RBC carries
• MCHC tells you how concentrated hemoglobin is inside RBCs

⚠️ High yield lab traps
• Low MCV + Low MCH + Low MCHC → Iron deficiency anemia
• Low MCV + Low MCH + Normal MCHC → Thalassemia trait
• High MCV → Think B12 or folate deficiency

Save this before your next CBC review. Exams and real reports both depend on this pattern.
