Recognizing psoriasis as a noncommunicable disease in the Philippines is important because it alters how the health system responds. Psoriasis is not just a skin condition. It is a lifelong inflammatory disease linked to heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and mental health concerns. NCD recognition places psoriasis within national prevention, screening, and treatment programs, where it belongs. It opens the door to better data, sustained funding, and clearer care pathways. Most importantly, it reduces stigma and ensures that patients receive timely, comprehensive, and dignified care rather than fragmented support.
Thank you, Department of Health (Philippines), Psoriasis Philippines President Paul Mendoza, Philippine Dermatological Society President Dr. Jasmin Jamora, and Philippine Rheumatology Association President Dr. Chito Lucero
