I saw this post in one of the FB groups. So i think i need to explain how things work. Kasi unfair naman po ata sa mga kasamahan nating mang gagamot kapag ganito ang mindset natin.

I understand po yung concern about follow-up fees, pero let’s also be fair to the medical side.

Ang follow-up check-up po ay hindi lang ‘silip kung gumaling ka.’
It involves reassessment, clinical judgment, and decision-making—kung effective ba ang gamot, may kailangan bang baguhin, may komplikasyon ba, o may ibang diagnosis na dapat i-consider.

Every visit, whether first or follow-up, still uses:
• training and expertise ng doctor (years of study and practice)
• clinic time and scheduling , rent, gas papuntanh clinic para lang matignan ka
• medical responsibility (legal and ethical)
• sometimes additional procedures or reassessment tools

Hindi po siya simpleng “tingin lang.”

Kung “tingin lang” pala,
bakit hindi na lang tayo mag-self check sa salamin? 👀. Or tanungin si Mr. Google. Or wag na mag ff up diba? Tingin lang naman eh 😉

Let’s be real

That said, iba-iba po ang practice—may doctors na nagbibigay ng free follow-up within a certain period, may discounted, at may regular fee—depende sa clinic policy.

Bottom line:
Hindi po pagbebenta ng serbisyo ang follow-up—parte siya ng tamang pag-aalaga sa pasyente.
And just like any professional service, it has value.

ON COVID-19 CASES IN SOUTHEAST ASIA
17 May 2025

The Department of Health is actively monitoring COVID-19 trends including the recently reported increases in specific areas of Southeast Asia. We are actively coordinating through established mechanisms like the ASEAN. This gives us verified information, boosting readiness even as we see no cause for alarm.

In the Philippines, as of May 3, 2025, we have observed an 87% decrease in cases and fatalities from 2024, with only 1,774 COVID-19 cases reported this year compared to 14,074 last year. The case fatality rate is only 1.13%. Recent trends also indicate a slight decrease in reported cases over the past three to four weeks. From 71 cases in the week of March 23 to April 5, 2025, it has decreased to 65 cases from April 6 to 19.

We are committed to keeping the public informed and will provide timely updates should the situation evolve. We encourage everyone to stay informed through official DOH channels, and continue practicing the same preventive measures that protect from other diseases:

✅Wear face masks in healthcare facilities
✅Stay home when sick
✅Cover your mouth when coughing and sneezing
✅Regularly wash hands with soap and water
✅Seek early consultation for symptoms
