The 1st Mindanao Engineering Research and Development Congress provided a meaningful platform for the exchange of knowledge between international expertise and local research initiatives.
Visiting Professor Dr. Sudip Chakraborty, Senior Research Scientist from the University of Calabria, Italy, shared valuable insights on membrane technology, advanced materials, sustainable water and wastewater treatment, photocatalysis, and artificial intelligence applications in chemical engineering.
The session also highlighted the research thrusts and ongoing initiatives of the laboratories under the Department of Chemical Engineering, namely the Center for Energy Research and Technology (CERT), Biomedical Polymers Laboratory (BPL), Center for Sustainable Polymers (CSP), and Sustainable Resource Engineering Research for Construction Technologies Laboratory (SURER-CT). Representatives from these laboratories shared their respective research experiences and perspectives, creating an engaging exchange with Dr. Chakraborty on sustainable materials, waste valorization, energy, environmental technologies, and emerging engineering solutions.
The Biomedical Polymers Laboratory is grateful for the opportunity to share its work on transforming waste materials into value-added biomedical products and to engage directly with Dr. Chakraborty and fellow researchers from the department.
We sincerely thank Dr. Chakraborty for generously sharing his expertise and insights. This meaningful exchange strengthened the connection between global knowledge and locally driven research while opening opportunities for future collaboration and innovation.
