Announcement: Dr. Suetomi will be away on Saturday, July 25, 2026. No consults will be done. The clinic in Quezon Avenue will still be open from 8 am-3 pm, though, for medicine dispensing and facial treatments. Clinic will resume on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Adventist Medical Center.

👩🏻‍⚕️ Acne patients who attend their follow-ups faithfully achieve the best results because:

1️⃣ Most medications take 2-3 months to show their full effect. Follow-ups allow your dermatologist to adjust concentrations or switch products if you are not seeing results 💊
2️⃣Many patients may incorrectly use products (ie, spot treating topicals instead of applying across the entire face). Follow-ups provide an opportunity to correct improper medicine usage 🧴
3️⃣Patients often stop regimens due to purging, dryness, and irritation. Your dermatologist will suggest moisturizers or adjust your medications to help you power through 👊

Follow our sun safety tips before gala:
☀️ Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) 30 minutes before sun exposure
🏊 Reapply every 2 hours and after swimming or sweating
☂️ Seek shade under a tree, umbrella or other shelter especially during midday hours (10 am-2 pm)
👒 Wear a hat, sunglasses 🕶️ and other protective clothing like long sleeves and pants

Squamous cell cancer is the second most common form of skin cancer.

Risk factors include:
☀️Sun exposure
⭕️Tanning bed exposure
⚪️Fair skin
👵🏻👴🏻Over 50 years of age
❌A history of skin cancer or precancerous skin lesions
🔥A previous burn
💀Prior radiation to the head and neck area
✅ Immunosuppression—from a medical condition or by medications
🏥Sun-sensitive conditions such as xeroderma pigmentosum

Our patient presented with a pimple-like lesion on the head 1 month prior to consultation. The nodule rapidly increased in size to 3 x 2.9 cm. Biopsy revealed Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Further diagnostic tests revealed other co-morbidities.

Squamous cell carcinoma is a very aggressive form of Non-melanoma skin cancer. This patient will require more extensive surgery. Radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy are used in advanced cases and will most likely be used in his case.
