To protect your child from hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), enforce frequent handwashing for 20 seconds, especially after using the toilet or changing diapers. Disinfect shared surfaces and toys regularly, avoid sharing cups or utensils, and keep your child away from anyone currently showing symptoms.

July is Sarcoma Awareness Month!

Sarcomas are rare cancers that develop in the muscle, bone, nerves, cartilage, tendons, blood vessels and the fatty and fibrous tissues. They can affect almost any part of the body, on the inside or the outside.

People can survive sarcoma if their cancer is diagnosed early, when treatments can be effective and before the sarcoma has spread to other parts of the body. It is vital that patients be referred to a specialist sarcoma team as early as possible.

Adolescents have the second highest incidence of meningococcemia with high carriage rates, those residing in dormitories and hanging out in crowded places (attending concerts, visiting bars, and frequent travelers). Invasive meningococcal disease has a rapid course of progression that can lead to death in a matter of hours. Be protected, get vaccinated!
