* Classification: Ebola virus belongs to the Filoviridae family.

* Structure: Filamentous, enveloped, negative-sense single-stranded RNA virus.

* Reservoir: Fruit bats are considered the natural reservoir.

* Transmission: Spread through direct contact with blood, body fluids, contaminated needles

* Pathogenesis: Infects immune cells and causes severe inflammation, vascular damage, and bleeding disorders.

* Symptoms: Sudden fever, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and internal/external bleeding.

* Disease caused: Ebola virus disease (EVD), a severe hemorrhagic fever with high mortality rate.

* Diagnosis: RT-PCR, antigen detection tests, ELISA, and virus isolation.

* Prevention: Isolation of patients, PPE use, hand hygiene, safe burial practices, and vaccination in outbreak areas.

* Treatment: Mainly supportive care including fluids, oxygen therapy, and electrolyte balance; monoclonal antibody therapies may be used.
