The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit Western Visayas together with Medical Station Western Visayas and Coast Guard Special Operations Unit provided Basic Life Support and Water Safety Orientation in connection with the celebration of 25th National Maritime Week to the residents of Brgy. Rizal, Lapaz, Iloilo City, and to the fisherfolks and barangay officials of Brgy.8 & 9 Tigbauan, Iloilo and students of St. Therese MTC Colleges Tigbauan Campus.

The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-unit Western Visayas and Medical Station Western Visayas conducted Basic Life Support (BLS) Training as part of the Water Search and Rescue Training organized by the Department of Health (DOH) Western Visayas Center for Health Development with thirty-one (31) participants on 23-26 September 2024 at Punta Villa Resort, Arevalo, Iloilo City. The participants of the said activity are rescuers from different provinces of Panay.

Look: Nursing Service Sub-unit Western Visayas and Nursing Service Sub-unit RTC Capiz joined in the conduct of Simultaneous Basic Life Support and Standard First Aid Awareness in connection with the 123rd Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Founding Anniversary Celebration 2024 with the theme "PCG@123: Matatag, Handa at Maaasahan Tungo sa Mapayapa at Mapanatag na Bagong Pilipinas" to the fisherfolks of Brgy. Nabitasan, Leganes.

The activity aimed to capacitate the fisherfolks with the knowledge and skills they may use during emergencies and disasters. Aside from the lecture, CGNS personnel also gave a first-aid kit to the baranggay while CGSS Dumangas also gave posters on "Paalala sa mga Mangingisda sa Panahon ng Ulan at Bagyo".

The whole activity was done in collaboration with Coast Guard Station Iloilo, Coast Guard Sub-station Dumangas, and Coast Guard Medical Clinic Western Visayas.

Look: The Philippine Coast Guard, Directorate General of Sea Transportation of Indonesia, and Japan Coast Guard conducted the Regional Marine Pollution Exercise (MARPOLEX) Bacolod 2024 at BREDCO PORT, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental from June 24-28, 2024.

Personnel from Coast Guard Nursing Service and Coast Guard Medical Service acted as standby medical teams throughout the event.

Joint MARPOLEX seeks to train and improve interoperability readiness and capabilities in search and rescue (SAR), firefighting, oil spill incidents, equipment recovery operations, and damage assessment. The exercise demonstrated the three countries' dedication to protecting the seas and their maritime borders during emergencies.

Look: CG Medical Station WV, CG Nursing Service Sub-Unit WV and CG Dental Station WV personnel participated in a Medical- Dental Mission at Brgy. Tuburan Sulbod, Zarraga, Iloilo on 16 June 2024. The said event was spearheaded by the 612th Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron in coordination with LGU Zarraga and Uswag Iloilo. A total of 84 circumcisions, 200 medical consultations, 55 tooth extraction and 49 hair cut were availed by the residents of Brgy Tuburan Sulbod and other nearby baranggays. This activity proves that there is great impact when different groups come and work together to achieve a specific goal which is for the betterment of the community.

Look: On June 14, 2024, the Coast Guard District Western Visayas commemorated its 41st anniversary with the theme "41 Years of Coast Guard Journey with Continued Excellence and Effective Service" at Headquarters Coast Guard District Western Visayas. The Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard, CG ADM RONNIE GIL L GAVAN, is the Guest of Honor and Speaker at this celebration, together with his wife, The Chief Nurse of the Philippine Coast Guard, CG COMMO LYSAMYRA MARIE N GAVAN NC.

The Chief Nurse was also given the opportunity to visit the Nursing Service Sub-unit Western Visayas personnel in order to boost morale and work performance.

Look: The Coast Guard District Western Visayas held a Community Outreach Program on 03 June 2024, at Brgy. Ubang, Pototan, Iloilo Covered Court in partnership with the Office of SB Member Paolo Lorenzo L. Tirador and in coordination with the Punong Barangays of 5 different barangays of Pototan, Iloilo namely Brgy. Danao, Brgy. Intaluan, Brgy. Pitogo, Brgy. Palanguia and Brgy. Ubang.

The said event is a pre-anniversary activity for the 41st Anniversary of The Coast Guard District Western Visayas with the theme " 41st Year Coast Guard Journey with continued Excellence and Effective Service". It was participated by the CG Dental Station WV, CG Medical Station WV, CG Nursing Service Sub-Unit WV, CG Veterinary Service WV, CG Legal Unit WV, and CG Civil Relations Service WV with other civilian doctors.

The recipients received and availed free services with total of circumcision (34), Medical Consultation (86), Fluoride (46), Tooth Extraction (33), Dental Consultation (8), Legal Aid (2). The Outreach Program left a lasting impact on the lives of the beneficiaries. The overall success of this program stands as a testament of community collaboration for the well-being of the community.

April 24-30 is World Immunization Week.
Ngayong taon, ipinagdiriwang ng World Immunization Week ang ika- 50 taon ng Essential Program on Immunization (EPI), isang pandaigdigang pagsisikap na tiyakin ang pantay na pag-access sa mga bakunang nagliligtas- buhay sa bawat bata.
Napatunayan na! Ang mga bakuna ay ligtas at mabisa at nagbibigay ng proteksyon sa lahat ng edad mula sa mga vaccine preventable diseases.
Ang isang komunidad, na ang mga miyembro ay nabakunahan, ay ma- eenjoy ang mga benepisyo ng mas mahaba, malusog, at mas maligayang buhay!
Makukuha ang bakuna ng libre sa mga health centers.
