IMUS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL successfully conducted the ceremonial participation of the Schools Division of Imus City in the Nationwide Simultaneous Safety Drill on Active Shooting Attack Incident on September 3, 2026, at 9:00 AM, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) agencies, particularly the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (City DRRMO).
The activity underscores the commitment of the Schools Division Office to strengthen the preparedness, response capacity, and resilience of schools against human-induced hazards and security-related emergencies. More than simply a simulation, the drill provided an opportunity for school personnel and partner agencies to test established procedures, enhance coordination, and identify areas for further improvement in protecting the lives and well-being of learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel.
The drill observed the prescribed implementing guidelines, covering the critical components of an effective response to an active shooting attack, including pre-incident preparedness, activation of the Incident Management Team, lockdown and lockout procedures, emergency communications, inter-agency coordination with law enforcement, post-incident recovery, psychosocial support, learner reunification, and instructional continuity.
Through the active participation of the PNP, BFP, City DRRMO, school personnel, and other stakeholders, the activity reinforced the importance of a whole-of-community and coordinated approach to school safety. It also highlighted that preparedness is not only about responding during an emergency, but also about ensuring that schools have the systems, people, communication mechanisms, and partnerships necessary to prevent loss of life, minimize risks, provide immediate assistance, and restore essential school services after an incident.
The successful conduct of the drill demonstrates the continuing commitment of SDO Imus City to building safer, more prepared, and more resilient learning communities. Through regular drills, capacity-building, and strong partnerships with local authorities and emergency response agencies, the Division continues to advance its mission of ensuring that every learner and every education personnel is better prepared to act decisively and appropriately in times of crisis.
