- The "Irosin Siege" refers to the April 10, 1989 attack on the Irosin Presidencia (municipal hall) in Sorsogon province, Philippines. Local police commander Police Lieutenant Antonio Dy successfully led a defense of the town hall against a large force of armed New People's Army (NPA) rebels.
For his bravery and leadership during this intense standoff, Lieutenant Dy was awarded the Medal of Valor (the highest military honor in the Philippines) by then-President Corazon Aquino. This historical event was later adapted into the 1989 anti-war action-drama film "Irosin, Pagputok ng Araw... Babaha ng Dugo!" directed by Augusto Buenaventura.
