Nutri-Quiz Bee 2026
As part of our annual Nutrition Month celebration, the Nutri-Quiz Bee for Elementary and High School levels brought together a clash of the brightest minds representing various public and private schools across Echague.

Under the dynamic leadership of our Municipal Health Officer / Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Dr. Jacqueline Casco-Buduan, the Municipal Health Office extends its deepest gratitude to all participating schools, administrators, coaches, and students. Despite the recent changes and demands in the DepEd curriculum, their unwavering dedication and passion to participate in this noble initiative truly shone through.

Anchored on this year’s theme, “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan ating pangalagaan,” the contest tested the students' knowledge on the vital link between sustainable nutrition and environmental protection. The competition was fierce and tightly contested, with participants demonstrating exceptional intellect—where every single point truly made a difference in the final scores.

UPDATING SKILLS FOR BETTER SERVICE: ECHAGUE municipal HEALTH OFFICE STAFF UNDERGOES G6PD TRAINING!

With the goal of continuously upgrading the skills of our local healthcare workers, the Municipality of Echague, in close coordination with the Isabela Provincial Health Office, recently conducted a specialized training on Enhancing G6PD Awareness, Health Promotion, and Patient Management.

Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is a common inherited condition where the body lacks an enzyme that protects red blood cells. While manageable, it requires strict awareness to prevent complications.

To provide better, safer, and more proactive medical services for our constituents, our frontline health staff were trained on:
✅ Early Detection & Newborn Screening Follow-up – Ensuring every newborn flagged with G6PD receives immediate attention and guidance.
✅ Trigger Identification – Mastering the latest updates on medications, food (like fava beans), and household chemicals (like mothballs/naphthalene) that patients must strictly avoid.
✅ Crisis Management – Recognizing early warning signs of a hemolytic crisis (such as sudden paleness, jaundice, or dark urine) for rapid referral and treatment.
✅ Barangay-Level Health Promotion – Empowering our midwives and BHWs to properly counsel mothers and families on how to keep G6PD-deficient children safe and healthy.

G6PD deficiency is not a disease, and with the right knowledge, affected individuals can live completely normal, healthy lives! Through this training, the local government ensures that our health workers are fully equipped to guide and protect every Echaguaños family.

FREE CLEFT SCREENING & SURGERY PROGRAM

In celebration of Cleft Awareness Week 2026, Santiago Medical City is inviting everyone to its Free Cleft Screening Program! This two-day community initiative aims to help children and adults with cleft lip and/or cleft palate get access to free, specialized care.

This program is completely free of charge. Individuals who qualify will receive free cleft screening and assessment, and those found eligible for surgery will also be provided with free CP Clearance consultations and required diagnostic tests, subject to medical evaluation. Most importantly, cleft lip and cleft palate surgery will be performed at no cost for qualified patients through our cleft care program.

Ang Municipal Health Office (MHO),katuwang ang Pamahalaang Barangay ng Cabugao ay maglulunsad ng isang Blood Letting Activity. Layunin ng programang ito na masiguro na ang ating komunidad ay may sapat, ligtas, at agarang magagamit na supply ng dugo para sa mga emergency at nangangailangang kababayan natin sa Barangay Cabugao at karatig-lugar.

Inaanyayahan po namin ang lahat ng ating mga kabarangay na may kakayahan at kwalipikadong mag-donate na makibahagi sa gawaing ito. Ang inyong isang bag ng dugo ay pwedeng magsalba ng hanggang tatlong buhay!

📋 MGA PAALALA BAGO MAG-DONATE (SINO ANG PWEDENG MAG-DONATE?):
May edad na 18 hanggang 60 taong gulang (tanggap ang 16-17 taong gulang basta may parental consent).

May timbang na hindi bababa sa 50 kg (110 lbs).

May maayos na presyon ng dugo (Blood Pressure), Pulse Rate, at Hemoglobin level (ito ay susuriin sa mismong venue ng mga medical staff).

Walang lagnat, ubo, o sipon sa nakalipas na mga araw.

May sapat na tulog (hindi bababa sa 5-6 na oras) bago ang araw ng pag-donate.

Walang nainom na alak sa nakalipas na 24 oras.

PAANO MAGHANDA?
Uminom ng maraming tubig o juice bago mag-donate.

Kumain ng sapat at masustansyang pagkain (iwasan ang mamantika).

Magdala ng valid ID para sa pagpaparehistro.

Mas handa, mas ligtas na Echague. 🚑

Bilang bahagi ng pagpapatibay ng kahandaan sa kalusugan at pagtugon sa mga emergency, sumailalim sa Basic Life Support (BLS) Training ang mga kawani ng Municipal Health Office at mga bagong miyembro ng Echague Rescue Team.

Sa pamamagitan ng pagsasanay na ito, mas napapalakas ang kanilang kakayahan na magbigay ng agarang tulong at makapagsagip ng buhay sa oras ng pangangailangan na mahalagang hakbang sa pagtugon sa mga pamantayan ng Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) in Health.

The Municipality of Echague proudly supports and celebrates the 52nd Nutrition Month this July under the vital theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan Ating Pangalagaan!" To honor this milestone, the local government has lined up an exciting and diverse array of activities aimed at promoting health, creativity, and environmental awareness. Students from elementary and high schools will showcase their knowledge and artistic talents in the competitive Nutri Quiz Bee, creative Slogan and Poster Making contests, and a highly anticipated Cooking Contest. Adding to the excitement, high school students will also vie for the prestigious titles of Mr. & Ms. Nutri Idol. Finally, to ensure the health and wellness of our dedicated frontliners, a vibrant Nutri Zumba Contest will be held for the beloved health workers across our different barangays, bringing the entire community together in the spirit of nutrition and sustainability.

Ang Municipal Health Office (MHO) Main ay laging bukas upang maghatid ng iba't ibang mahahalagang serbisyong pangkalusugan para sa komunidad. Ang mga residente ay maaaring sumailalim sa general medical check-up para sa mga karaniwang konsultasyon, physical examination, at pagsubaybay sa mga lifestyle disease. Mayroon ding mga serbisyong dental tulad ng bunot ng ngipin at pagsusuri sa bibig, Para sa mga pangangailangang diagnostic, operational ang laboratoryo para sa mga routine blood work at urinalysis; pinapaalalahanan naman ang mga pasyenteng kailangang mag-fasting na panatilihin ang 8 hanggang 10 oras na walang kain o inom bago pumunta. Bukod dito, dahil nakatakda ngayong araw ng Martes, aktibong tumatanggap ang Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) ng mga pasyente para sa kagat ng a*o at post-exposure anti-rabies vaccination. Kasabay nito, bukas din ang ating TB DOTS Center para sa libreng pagsusuri, konsultasyon, at tuluy-tuloy na gamutan laban sa tuberkulosis, pati na rin ang Family Planning Services na nagbibigay ng payo at iba't ibang paraan ng pagpaplano ng pamilya gaya ng pills at depo shot. Para sa mas mabilis at maayos na proseso, huwag kalimutang magdala ng valid ID, family health record, at mga nakaraang reseta o resulta ng laboratoryo.
