The Long Drive Home

Before the sun had even begun to rise, Daniel quietly started his old vehicle. The roads were still dark and empty as he began a long drive home to his family. Though he was tired from work, his heart was full of anticipation. He missed his wife and children and wanted to spend every possible moment with them.

After several hours on the road, Daniel finally arrived home. His children ran to greet him with joyful smiles, and his wife welcomed him warmly. There was little time to rest, however. The next school year was about to begin, and the children still needed to be enrolled.

Without complaint, Daniel gathered the family and drove them to town. The enrollment lines were long, and the day was hot. He patiently waited while forms were completed, fees were paid, and schedules were arranged. He carried bags, answered questions, and made sure everything was in order for his children’s education.

By late afternoon, the family was finally ready to return home. The journey back was long, and darkness slowly covered the roads. The children fell asleep in the vehicle, tired from the day’s activities. Daniel continued driving carefully through the night while his family rested peacefully.

It was already late when they finally reached home. Exhausted, Daniel parked the vehicle and quietly carried a sleeping child inside. No one saw the weariness behind his smile. No one heard the silent prayers he had whispered throughout the day for his family’s safety and future.

As he looked at his sleeping children, Daniel knew every mile had been worth it.

Many acts of love are not announced with words or recognized with applause. They are found in early mornings, long drives, patient waiting, and late nights. They are found in the quiet sacrifices made by fathers and mothers who give their strength so their families may flourish.

That night, before going to sleep, Daniel thanked God for his family. And though the day had been long, his heart was at peace, for love had guided every mile of the journey.

“Let all that you do be done in love.”
— 1 Corinthians 16:14

The Family That Kept Choosing Love

The Santos family was not perfect. Sometimes Papa came home tired from work. Sometimes Mama became stressed with household chores. The children, Marco and Ana, occasionally argued over toys and chores.

There were days when they misunderstood one another and said things they later regretted. Yet every evening, they gathered together to pray.

One night, after a disagreement, the family sat quietly around the dinner table. Papa spoke first.

“We are not a perfect family,” he said, “but we can always choose to love one another.”

Mama smiled and added, “Love means being patient, forgiving, and trying again.”

Marco apologized to Ana for being unkind, and Ana apologized for not sharing. Soon, laughter returned to their home.

As the years passed, the Santos family still faced challenges and made mistakes. But they learned that love grows whenever people forgive, help, and pray for one another.

Their family was not perfect, but it was filled with something even more important—a love that reflected God’s love each day.

“Bear with one another and forgive one another… as the Lord has forgiven you.” (Colossians 3:13)

Moral: A happy family is not a perfect family. It is a family that keeps choosing love, forgiveness, and faith every day.

Come as You Are

Harry was worried. He wanted to be a good follower of Jesus, but he often made mistakes. One afternoon, while attending catechism class with his younger brothers, Henry and Holly, he heard the teacher read Jesus’ words:

“Come, follow me.” (Matthew 4:19)

After class, Harry asked, “Do we have to be perfect before we can follow Jesus?”

Henry shook his head. “If that were true, I could never follow Him!”

Holly giggled. “Me too! I forget my prayers sometimes.”

Their teacher smiled and said, “Jesus calls us just as we are. He helps us become better along the way.”

That evening, the three brothers knelt together to pray. Harry thanked Jesus for loving them despite their weaknesses. Henry asked for help to be kinder, and Holly prayed for a grateful heart.

As they finished, Harry felt peace. He realized that following Jesus was not about being perfect—it was about trusting Him every day.

From then on, whenever they heard Jesus’ invitation, “Come, follow me,” Harry, Henry, and Holly answered with joyful hearts:

“Lord, we come as we are.”
