Adults aged 21 and older have emerged as the most affected age group in Central Visayas, accounting for 26% (2,072 cases) of the total 7,986 dengue infections reported from January 4 to August 22, 2026.

Data from the latest Regional Dengue Surveillance Report by the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CVCHD) shows overall cases increased by 1% compared to the 7,889 cases recorded during the same period in 2025.

Statistical report also indicates a slight increase in the Case Fatality Rate, rising from 0.3% in 2025 to 0.5% in 2026.

Demographic data further highlights that males accounted for the majority of infections at 4,229 cases (53%), while females comprised 3,757 cases (47%).

Following adults, children aged 6 to 10 represented the second-largest group with 1,921 cases (24%), followed by ages 1 to 5 with 1,674 cases (21%).

Youth aged 11 to 15 logged 1,283 cases (16%), those aged 16 to 20 recorded 835 cases (10%), and infants under one year old accounted for 201 cases (3%).

The DOH-CVCHD noted that all figures remain subject to change due to late reports submitted and ongoing verification.
