📢 New research highlights the long-term benefits of allergen immunotherapy (AIT) in local allergic rhinitis.
A 10-year prospective study published in Allergy found that patients treated with AIT experienced:
✔ Fewer nasal and eye symptoms
✔ Reduced medication use
✔ Improved lung function and quality of life
✔ Fewer emergency healthcare visits
✔ Lower rates of asthma development and new allergic sensitizations
Perhaps most strikingly, asthma developed in:
🔹 40.7% of untreated patients
🔹 Only 8.0% of AIT-treated patients
These findings reinforce the potential of AIT to modify disease progression and improve long-term outcomes for patients.
