🐾 Emergency C-Section Success at ER PetCare Veterinary Clinic Lugait Branch 🐾

Today, Caramel was rushed to our clinic due to dystocia (difficulty giving birth), a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate veterinary intervention.

Our team, led by Doc Miko, our senior veterinarian, performed an emergency cesarean section to save both the mother and her puppies. We are grateful to share that 2 out of 3 puppies were successfully saved, and Caramel is now receiving close post-operative care and recovery.

Unfortunately, one puppy could not be revived despite our best efforts.

This case also highlights the importance of pre-whelping diagnostics. Caramel did not undergo pregnancy ultrasound or X-ray prior to labor, which could have helped determine the number, size, and positioning of the puppies, allowing for better planning and reducing the risk of complications during delivery.

If your pet is pregnant, we strongly encourage scheduling prenatal check-ups, including ultrasound and X-ray examinations, to help ensure a safer delivery for both the mother and her babies.

Our brave little patient, Chuchay, a 4-month-old Shihpoo puppy, visited ER PETCARE Veterinary Clinic – Lugait Branch today for her follow-up consultation and scheduled deworming after completing one week of treatment for canine parvovirus.
