DOH-CAR NASPCP and Project NAMNAMA joins the nation in celebrating freedom, courage, and pride as we commemorate the 128th Independence Day with the theme: "Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan."

Ngayong Araw ng Kalayaan, ipinagdiriwang natin hindi lamang ang kalayaan ng ating bansa, kundi pati na rin ang kalayaang gumawa ng mga responsableng desisyon para sa ating kalusugan at kinabukasan.

Dahil ang tunay na kalayaan ay may kasamang pananagutan na pangalagaan ang ating sarili at ang ating mga mahal sa buhay. Sa pamamagitan ng tamang kaalaman, pagpapakonsulta, at regular na HIV testing, mas nagiging panatag tayo sa mga desisyong ginagawa natin para sa ating kalusugan.

Sa paggunita natin sa kasaysayan ng ating kalayaan, patuloy din nating isulong ang isang lipunang may sapat na kaalaman, walang stigma, at may malasakit sa bawat isa.

Reminder: HEAT STROKE is DANGEROUS! ☀️

Along with the rise in the heat index comes the threat of heat related illnesses. Watch out for symptoms of heat stroke such as:
⚠️ Dizziness
⚠️ Fever
⚠️ Nausea
⚠️ Hot, red skin
⚠️ Unconsciousness

If you or someone you know experiences any of these symptoms, immediately move to a cool place and seek help.

The dangers of heat stroke can be avoided by staying prepared for the hot weather. 🌡️

In 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐯. 𝐀𝐀𝐀, 𝐆.𝐑. 𝐍𝐨. 𝟐𝟓𝟔𝟓𝟒𝟎, 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, the Supreme Court ruled it is illegal to dismiss an employee solely for testing positive for HIV, declaring such termination discriminatory under Section 49(a) of Republic Act No. 11166 which makes it unlawful for an employee to be terminated from work on the sole basis of their HIV status.

The Supreme Court found that the CA correctly ruled that since Philippine law categorically prohibits the use of a person’s HIV+ condition as a ground for dismissal, the inescapable conclusion is that there was no valid cause to terminate AAA, and that doing so is tantamount to illegal dismissal.

While it is true that disease may be a ground for termination under Article 299 of the Labor Code, as amended and renumbered, Bison has conceded that HIV positive is not yet an illness/disease. There being no other reason proffered for AAA’s dismissal apart from his HIV status, the Court upholds the ruling of the CA that the NLRC did not commit grave abuse of discretion in finding that AAA was illegally dismissed.
