NURSING UNITED: CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE, WELLNESS, AND TRANSFORMATION

With hearts full of gratitude, passion, and purpose, the Nursing Service Division of Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center successfully concluded its vibrant and meaningful celebration of the 2026 International Nurses Day on May 26, 2026 – a whole-day gathering that showcased the unwavering dedication, unity, excellence, and transformative spirit of the nursing workforce.
The celebration commenced with the launching of 𝗪.𝗔.𝗧.𝗪.𝗔.𝗧. — Wellness Activities Toward Workforce Advancement and Transformation — the flagship wellness program of the Nursing Service Division designed to strengthen the physical, emotional, and social well-being of healthcare workers. Nursing personnel and participants enthusiastically joined the Fun Walk and Zumba Session, transforming the morning into a lively celebration of wellness, teamwork, work-life balance, accountability, and togetherness. More than just physical activity, W.A.T.W.A.T. symbolized the division’s commitment to nurturing a healthy workforce capable of delivering compassionate and quality patient care.
Grounded in faith and thanksgiving, the Nursing Service Division then gathered for a solemn Thanksgiving Mass — a meaningful moment of reflection and gratitude for the countless blessings, triumphs, and lessons that continue to shape the nursing profession. It served as a reminder that beyond skills and competence, nursing remains a vocation rooted in compassion, service, humility, and love for humanity.
Intelligence, teamwork, and organizational commitment took center stage during the highly anticipated Battle of the Nightingales: PGS Quiz Competition. Clinical nursing units and special care areas engaged in an interactive and technology-driven competition that tested their knowledge and deepened their engagement in the Performance Governance System (PGS) journey of the institution. The activity highlighted how every nurse plays a vital role in advancing strategic governance, organizational transformation, and service excellence within the hospital.
The spirit of unity and humility was deeply felt during Boodlemania: Nurses Unite — the solidarity lunch of the Nursing Service Division. More than sharing meals together, the activity became a powerful reminder of the division’s simple beginnings, collective struggles, and inspiring transformation through the years. Despite growth, modernization, and evolving healthcare demands, the Nursing Service Division remains grounded and deeply rooted in its core values of service, compassion, accountability, teamwork, humility, and excellence. It celebrated not only professional milestones but also the enduring bond that unites every member of the nursing workforce as one family.
One of the most symbolic highlights of the celebration was the unveiling of the Nursing Service Division PGS Corner dubbed Illuminating the Path to Nursing Excellence. The launching represents the Nursing Service Division’s unwavering commitment to strategic performance excellence, organizational transformation, and patient-centered care. The PGS Corner stands as a beacon of accountability, innovation, teamwork, and purposeful leadership – reflecting how the division continuously aligns its goals, initiatives, and nursing practices with the institutional direction of Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center.
More importantly, the unveiling symbolized the division’s continuing promise: to remain aligned with the vision of the institution; to elevate nursing practice through innovation and service excellence; and to become steadfast partners in building a future-ready healthcare institution responsive to the needs of every patient and community.
The celebration culminated with elegance and pride through the 1st Nightingale’s L.A.M.P Awards — Leading Achievers in Meaningful Patient-Care toward Strategic Performance Excellence in Nursing — the flagship recognition program of the Nursing Service Division anchored on the principles of the Performance Governance System (PGS).
This landmark initiative was conceptualized to honor nursing personnel and clinical units whose exemplary performance contributes directly to the attainment of the institution’s strategic objectives, key performance indicators, and breakthrough results. The awards recognized not only clinical competence and dedication but also the invaluable role of nurses as partners in organizational excellence, innovation, patient safety, and transformative healthcare service.
In her inspirational message, Chief Nurse Eleanor S. San Mateo emphasized that nursing excellence is not measured solely by technical competence, but by the compassion, integrity, resilience, and accountability demonstrated in every patient encounter. She challenged the nursing workforce to continue becoming instruments of transformative care and active contributors to the institution’s strategic direction.
Meanwhile, Ms. Brenda B. Bayani, Chief Administrative Officer and Chairperson of the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee highlighted the importance of recognizing people whose dedication and performance create meaningful impact within the organization. She underscored that appreciation and recognition cultivate motivation, teamwork, innovation, and a culture of excellence among healthcare workers.
In his keynote message, Dr. Nelson O. Rigor, Medical Center Chief II, commended the Nursing Service Division for continuously championing innovation, accountability, and service excellence through programs aligned with the hospital’s strategic goals. He recognized nurses as the backbone of healthcare service and emphasized that their dedication remains instrumental in shaping a responsive, future-ready, and patient-centered institution.
As the curtains closed on this year’s International Nurses Day Celebration, one message resonated strongly across every activity, every recognition, and every shared moment:
The Nursing Service Division is not merely celebrating a profession — it is celebrating a purpose.
A purpose driven by compassion.
A mission fueled by excellence.
And a commitment anchored on transforming lives through meaningful patient care.
Indeed, the 2026 International Nurses Day Celebration became more than an event — it became a powerful testament that when nurses move together with passion, purpose, and strategic direction, they illuminate the path toward a stronger, more compassionate, and excellence-driven future for healthcare.

FNLGHTC MAKES IT — PLATINUM AWARD ACHIEVED!

Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center proudly marks another remarkable milestone after being conferred the prestigious Platinum Award during the 2025 Healthy Health Facilities Awards — further cementing its reputation as a SAFE HAVEN for the sick and a trusted institution for quality healthcare service.

This outstanding recognition reflects FNLGHTC’s unwavering commitment to providing not only quality and compassionate healthcare, but also a green, safe, resilient, and patient-centered environment where every individual is cared for with dignity, excellence, and compassion.

The award was based on the results of the Integrated Hospital Operations and Management Program (IHOMP) Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) on Green and Safe Health Facilities — a strategic assessment mechanism that evaluates hospitals across vital areas such as Governance, Ethics and Patient’s Rights, Quality Measurement and Improvement, Integrated People-Centered Health Services, Patient Safety, Facility Safety and Emergency Management, and Resource Management.

Grounded on the principles of Continuing Quality Improvement (CQI), the assessment recognizes healthcare institutions that continuously strive to strengthen systems, improve healthcare delivery, and ensure the highest standards of safety and service excellence for the communities they serve.

More than a recognition, this Platinum distinction symbolizes the tireless dedication, hard work, and commitment of every member of the FNLGHTC family in making the hospital a place of healing, hope, and trust for every patient who walks through its doors.

Indeed, FNLGHTC continues to rise as a beacon of excellence in public healthcare.

Congratulations to the entire FNLGHTC family!

Who could ever forget the man behind the rise of a vision once only dreamed, now standing as a living institution—the Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center?

He was never just a figure of accomplishment, but a man of foresight and courage—one who dared to see beyond the present and worked tirelessly to transform vision into reality. Through unwavering determination and quiet strength, he helped shape a facility that now stands as a lifeline of healthcare, training, and service to the people.

Without his steadfast pursuit and commitment to public welfare, this institution would not have become what it is today—a symbol of accessible care and governance rooted in compassion and excellence.

We honor the enduring memory of the late Elias K. Bulut Sr., a true public servant whose leadership was defined not by title, but by service; not by recognition, but by lasting impact.

His legacy is not meant to remain only in remembrance—it is meant to be carried, taught, and cascaded across generations. A living example for the youth, a guiding light for leaders, and a reminder that true public service is measured by lives changed and communities uplifted.

On this day, we do not only remember—we celebrate.

Happy Birthday to a man whose vision continues to breathe through the institutions he built and the people he served. Your life remains a testament to selfless leadership and enduring purpose.

A true servant of the people. A legacy that lives on.

A one-day Medical, Surgical, and Dental Mission was successfully conducted yesterday, May 14, 2026, at Poblacion, Calanasan, Apayao in partnership with the Apayao Provincial Health Office and the Local Government Unit of Calanasan, carrying the theme, “Bayanihan Para sa Kalusugan, Compassion in Action: Healing Through Service.”

Present during the activity were Dr. Nelson O. Rigor, Medical Center Chief II; Ms. Brenda B. Bayani, Chief Administrative Officer; and several employees who actively participated in providing healthcare services and assistance to the community.

The outreach activity aimed to extend essential healthcare services to the residents of Calanasan, particularly those with limited access to medical care. Services rendered during the mission included free medical consultations, minor surgical procedures, dental services, distribution of medicines, and health education.

Dr. Rigor also recalled the legacy of the late Provincial Hero Elias K. Bulut, who greatly valued and prioritized the healthcare needs of the people of Calanasan and the YApayaos. The medical mission likewise served as an advance commemoration of the birth of the late EKB on May 18, honoring his lasting contributions and dedication to the welfare of the people of Apayao.

Through initiatives such as this, the spirit of public service and compassion continues to reach far-flung communities across the province.

The activity further highlighted the commitment of participating agencies, healthcare workers, volunteers, partner organizations, and local officials in bringing accessible healthcare services closer to communities in need. The organizers also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the mission.

Empowering leaders. Strengthening governance. Building a future-ready hospital.

The Office for Strategy Management successfully conducted the PGS Coaches Training for the selected PGS Coaches from every unit and division of the hospital. The activity provided a deeper understanding of the Performance Governance System (PGS), the hospital’s long-term strategic goals, and the vital roles and responsibilities of each coach in cascading and sustaining a culture of excellence and accountability across the organization.

A highlight of the training was the Governance Sharing of Ms. Allyn Jamaica Du from the Finance Division, who shared their division’s innovative practices and effective strategies in making PGS more understandable, relatable, and engaging for their staff through simple yet enjoyable approaches. Their successful initiatives demonstrated how creativity and innovation can strengthen awareness, participation, and appreciation of PGS within the workplace, inspiring fellow coaches to adopt meaningful and people-centered strategies in their own respective areas.

The afternoon session featured a productive Critiquing Workshop and Mini Revalida Storytelling Workshop, equipping the coaches with practical skills in assessing, guiding, and strengthening the strategic initiatives of their assigned units. The activity prepared them to become capable mentors, evaluators, and champions of governance excellence within the hospital.

As we continue to align every action toward our strategic direction, we move forward with empowered PGS Coaches who are ready to lead, inspire, and drive transformation in their respective areas.

Far North, far beyond committed to the Dream Philippines through excellence in healthcare governance and dedicated public service.
