[Patient Story] [Thailand - Breast Cancer - Cryoablation + Intra-Arterial Infusion]

She Once Made a Will Refusing All Hospitals—Until She Met Fuda
When the lump in her breast kept growing and the skin began to ulcerate and bleed, Ora’s first reaction was not to visit a hospital, but to draw up a will. It all stemmed from a deep-seated fear of hospitals and an instinctive resistance to modern medicine.

Ora is an elegant, composed Thai woman, but over a year ago, a lump that silently appeared in her left breast shattered the peace of her life. Initially, she dismissed it as a minor issue. As days passed, however, her condition took a sharp turn for the worse: discharge began leaking from the ni**le, the mass grew relentlessly, the skin ulcerated and bled, and several small lumps emerged in her left armpit, aching faintly...
Even then, Ora still refused to step into a hospital. She opted to dress the wound herself and take traditional Chinese herbal medicine. In her mind, modern cancer treatment meant massive doses of drugs, severe side effects, and the painful memory of acquaintances who had passed away mid-treatment. These fears stacked up into an insurmountable wall. Terrified that the cure might be more agonizing than the disease itself, she gave up, wrote her will, and hid both her wounds and her terror from her husband.
Yet she was not truly alone. Seeing the deep concern in her family’s eyes, her stubborn resolve finally wavered. She began looking for new possibilities. One day, Ora and her husband came across reports about Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital in China, reading firsthand accounts from other patients. After extensive research, she contacted the doctors at the hospital’s Thailand office.
"I learned that their philosophy focuses on minimally invasive, gentle treatments with relatively mild side effects, and that they specialize in oncology," she recalled. Skeptical yet hopeful, she packed her bags within two days and flew to China. She thought to herself: Why not give it a shot? At worst, nothing comes of it.
In November 2025, Ora walked into Guangzhou FudaCancer Hospital for the first time. At that point, her left breast and surrounding skin suffered large-scale ulceration, tissue loss, erythema, and continuous exudation of blood and fluid. Her pain worsened at night, and multiple lymph nodes in her armpit were swollen. To her shock, the diagnostic findings revealed far more than a localized tumor: the cancer had already metastasized to her lungs, bones, and lymph nodes, and her open wound was complicated by a multidrug-resistant bacterial infection.
Instead of backing away, Ora found unexpected strength. The medical team listened patiently to her concerns, addressed every question thoroughly, and worked in seamless harmony. Their calm composure and confidence served as a warm, steady anchor, gradually lifting her spirits from despair.
Faced with Ora’s complex condition, the team promptly organized a multidisciplinary consultation (MDT). The priority was wound debridement, dressing changes, pain management, and anti-infection therapy. Next, to determine the pathological profile, they performed a core needle biopsy on the left breast mass. Intraoperative frozen pathology confirmed malignant cells, followed immediately by palliative cryoablation to relieve local symptoms. Postoperative pathology provided further clarity: invasive ductal carcinoma of the left breast, ER (++), HER2 (+++), PR (-). Based on this, the team tailored a personalized targeted therapy combined with chemotherapy to control systemic disease progression.
"I didn't suffer from nausea or vomiting, nor did I have severe rashes or allergies. I could eat normally," Ora shared. Having feared chemotherapy side effects above all else, she experienced almost none of her anticipated nightmares. That was because she did not receive conventional systemic chemotherapy; instead, she underwent interventional intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy. Guided by medical imaging, the medication was delivered directly into the tumor's feeding arteries, concentrating high-potency drugs at the core of the "battlefield" while sparing the rest of her body. Supported by meticulous preventative care from the nursing staff, she was spared the physical torment she had dreaded.

After six cycles of treatment, Ora’s breast lesion shrank substantially, and the metastases in her lungs, lymph nodes, and bones were brought under control. Follow-up scans demonstrated robust systemic tumor control, earning an overall evaluation of PR (Partial Response), with maintenance targeted therapy scheduled ahead. Even more striking than the CT scans was the once-shocking breast wound, which gradually closed and healed under dedicated care. Upon returning to Thailand, local medical personnel were astonished: typically, such severe wounds take at least a year to heal, yet hers took only five months. Today, she carries a bright glow on her face and newfound hope in her heart.

"Before coming, I was full of doubts. After arriving, I felt a whole new window open, witnessing the power of precision medicine," Ora reflected. In her eyes, the Fuda medical team never stuck rigidly to routine formulas; they truly placed her at the center, dynamically adjusting treatment based on every physiological change and bodily response. To her, this journey went beyond medical treatment—it felt like warm, steadfast companionship. Each time she returned to Fuda, it felt less like visiting a hospital and more like seeing old friends.
Surrounded by warmth, her days passed quietly, and her outlook grew brighter. She felt profoundly grateful for the choice she made. Above all, she was grateful that she never had to walk alone—lifted by a professional, compassionate team, she journeyed through the darkest night and stepped into her own dawn.

"I will share my Fuda experience on my blog" — Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council Praises Chinese Healthcare
Recently, Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital received a special letter from Nigeria. The author was Dr. Dili Ezughah, Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Press Council. In sincere and dignified words, he recounted his personal medical check-up experience at Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital during his visit to China, expressing heartfelt appreciation for Dr. Huang Yanli from the Outpatient Internal Medicine Department and the entire medical team—whose professionalism and humanistic warmth left a lasting impression on him.

During that visit, Mr. Ezughah came to FudaHospital accompanied by a friend due to abdominal pain. As a foreign visitor who did not speak Mandarin, the unfamiliar hospital environment and language barrier could have easily made this medical visit filled with anxiety and uncertainty. However, Dr. Huang Yanli, who attended to him, did not allow language to become a barrier between doctor and patient.

With the assistance of Ou Juanling, a translator from the hospital’s International Affairs Department, Dr. Huang listened patiently, inquired thoroughly, and clearly explained every examination step and procedure to the patient. Even more moving was that she also used a mobile translation app to translate key medical information line by line into English, ensuring Mr. Ezughah could fully understand. He took photos of those translated screens one by one—saying he wanted to share them on his blog so more people would know that seeking medical care in China is a warm and reassuring experience.

To ensure language remained no obstacle throughout the visit, outpatient nurse Xie Mei stayed by his side the entire time. From guiding him between departments to reminding him of every single precaution, she provided attentive, all-around care until all examinations were successfully completed.

"Her approach reflected an admirable understanding that medicine is not only about diagnosis and treatment, but also about the dignity, fears, concerns, and humanity of the person receiving care," Mr. Ezughah wrote in his letter. Such attentiveness and patience made him feel deeply respected, sheltered, and reassured while in a foreign country.

Benevolence knows no borders, and medicine is guided by love. At Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital, such stories are not unique. Upholding the core principle of "patient-centered care," the entire medical staff continuously refines service awareness and optimizes clinical workflows. Grounded in superb medical skills and colored by warm, compassionate care, every trust from afar receives the gentlest yet strongest response. This stands as the most vivid embodiment of the warmth in Chinese healthcare services.

[Patient Story] [Hong Kong - Pancreatic Cancer - Nanoknife (IRE)]
Breakthrough: Fuda Sets a New Milestone with "Single-Needle Under Local Anesthesia" Nanoknife Ablation for Pancreatic Cancer
Recently, Dr. Niu Lizhi, President of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital, led his medical team to successfully perform a groundbreaking Nanoknife (Irreversible Electroporation, IRE) ablation on an 81-year-old male patient from Hong Kong. Under the dual guidance of CT and ultrasound, the procedure was smoothly completed under local anesthesia, using only a single needle (an integrated bipolar probe) percutaneously inserted into the pancreatic lesion with extreme precision.

The patient had been diagnosed with moderately differentiated pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in 2021. Despite undergoing a Whipple procedure and multiple cycles of chemotherapy, the cancer recurred. A hypoechoic retroperitoneal mass measuring approximately 7 cm had formed—irregular in shape and with poorly defined margins—which had already encased the celiac trunk and superior mesenteric artery, completely ruling out any chance of a second radical resection. In addition, due to his advanced age of over 80 and poor cardiopulmonary reserve, he was unable to tolerate general anesthesia.

Faced with this complex condition, the hospital's Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) held in-depth discussions and developed a personalized treatment plan:
• Perform Nanoknife ablation on the recurrent pancreatic tumor to reduce tumor burden and prolong life;
• Concurrently carry out a needle biopsy for pathological diagnosis and genetic testing to guide future treatments;
• Combine with a celiac plexus block to relieve cancer pain, striving for a longer and higher-quality survival period for the patient.
The pancreas is situated in an intricate location, closely surrounded by critical organs, blood vessels, and the gastrointestinal tract. The highlight of this surgery was the application of next-generation IRE technology (S-IRE). Recently approved for clinical application in China, this domestically innovated technology marks a historic milestone in Nanoknife ablation for pancreatic tumors, with no relevant treatment cases yet reported internationally.
By inserting an ultra-fine, single-use pulse ablation electrode into the target area, it delivers wide-spectrum synergetic high-voltage pulsed electric fields to induce multiple micropores in cell membranes, triggering cell death. Unlike conventional Nanoknife systems—which require parallel alignment of multiple needles, complex puncture paths, and high technical difficulty—this technology features a single-needle bipolar design. A single needle completes the ablation, creating a clearer path, simplifying the procedure, and substantially reducing surgical risks.
During the surgery, guided in real time by CT and ultrasound, President Niu accurately reached the lesion using just one integrated bipolar ablation probe, deftly bypassing adjacent vital structures such as the stomach, intestines, and blood vessels. Remarkably, the entire procedure was performed under local anesthesia, requiring no muscle relaxants or endotracheal intubation.
Because this single-needle bipolar Nanoknifedoes not generate high systemic currents, it avoids triggering muscle contractions and exerts minimal impact on electrocardiograms and hemodynamics. The patient remained fully conscious throughout the procedure, answered questions normally, experienced no notable muscle twitching, and maintained stable vital signs—completely overturning the traditional notion that Nanoknife ablation mandates general anesthesia and muscle paralysis.

The patient's post-operative recovery was remarkable: he was able to get out of bed the very next day without significant pain or discomfort. Follow-up CT scans demonstrated significant necrosis and shrinkage of the lesion. With the patient in high spirits, his family was deeply moved, expressing their heartfelt gratitude and taking commemorative photos with Dr. Niu. This touching moment not only reflects a warm doctor-patient bond but also epitomizes China's minimally invasive medical technology advancing from "following" to "running alongside" and now "leading" the field.

The successful implementation of this single-needle, local-anesthesia Nanoknife ablation is a major achievement born of Guangzhou FudaCancer Hospital's longstanding dedication to minimally invasive oncology. As a National Clinical Key Specialty (Oncology) hospital, Fudacontinues to drive technological innovation and upgrades in precision ablation. The maturity and broader adoption of this technique offer a safe, effective, and accessible new option for elderly patients, those ineligible for general anesthesia, and those with inoperable pancreatic cancer—truly turning the "impossible" into "possible."
