The Secretary's Cup

The Secretary's Cup Rationale: The vision of Universal Health Care will be achieved with a well-informed public that is genuinely committed to advocate for their right to health.

A debate championship, dubbed The Health Secretary’s Cup, open to University students from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be held using the Modified Asians Debate Format. We have to spark interest on the agenda, generate discourse among the general public and consequently, set the background for a strong popular backing for Universal Health Care. Project Proposal: The Health Secretary Cup

Gener

al Idea:

There has been a general trend of interest in competitive academic debates not only in universities but also in the rapidly growing community of social media. The Philippine Debate Community has been an active force in generating social consciousness among the most vocal and articulate youth of the time, and their ability to generate discourse is unparalleled by any other social community. Debate, in principle, is a platform to generate arguments for or against a particular issue. In the process, debaters have to research on the premises of their stances, and express their ideas in the most comprehensible and persuasive manner possible. The adjudication panel (and the audience) can then weigh the contribution and the logical strength of speakers, and decide which side was able to defend their stance best. The goals of sparking general interest on Universal Health Care, generating public discourse, and establishing a popular support group can be achieved by utilizing competitive debates that are visible to the public.

We spotted an error. We are sorry for the oversight. MSU IIT should be seeded at 16 and the other wildcards should move up. We'll update the Break Seed computation and road to the finals.
