Sun spots aren’t simply a sign of getting older—they reflect years of accumulated UV exposure. They commonly appear as flat brown patches on sun-exposed areas such as the face, hands, and arms.

Come with me as I stepped out of clinic and into one of the most meaningful weeks of my year. 💙

This year, I had the privilege of chairing the 30th Postgraduate Course of the UP–PGH Department of Dermatology, bringing together colleagues, mentors, and friends to learn, teach, and explore “UNCHARTED: The Off-Label Horizons.”

One of the highlights was seeing wound care take center stage in dermatology.

A few years ago, before the pandemic, Dr. Lyra Tumalad Lily Lyralin Tumalad, MD, FPDS and I attended a wound care course led by Dr. Gary Sibbald and his team. We were the only dermatologists in the room. Fast-forward to today, and we welcomed global wound care leaders to our own postgraduate course, with a room full of dermatologists eager to learn. It was one of those moments that reminded me just how much our specialty continues to grow.

None of this would have been possible without our incredible organizing committee—especially our hardworking residents who did so much behind the scenes—our speakers, industry partners, alumni, faculty, and every participant who spent the 2 days learning with us.

This also marks my final year as Postgraduate Chair, and I could not have asked for a better way to close this chapter.

It’s a chapter I’ll always be proud of, and one I’ll always look back on with gratitude. 🤍
