The first cavity-causing bacteria may come from someone who loves a child the most.

Tooth decay isn't just about sugar. Before a cavity can form, the mouth must first become colonized by cavity-causing bacteria. One of the most important species, Streptococcus mutans, can be transferred from parents or caregivers to young children through saliva-sharing behaviors.

A landmark systematic review and meta-analysis examined 36 human studies, including 19 studies in quantitative analysis. Using modern genetic fingerprinting techniques, researchers found strong evidence that many children acquire the same strains of Streptococcus mutans carried by their mothers, confirming biological transmission rather than simple coincidence.

Common saliva-sharing habits that may transfer these bacteria include: โ€ข Sharing spoons or forks โ€ข Tasting food with the same utensil before feeding โ€ข Cleaning a dropped pacifier with the mouth โ€ข Sharing cups, straws, or toothbrushes

This does not mean every child exposed will develop cavities. Dental caries is a multifactorial disease. Bacterial transmission is only one step; diet, oral hygiene, fluoride exposure, saliva, and time all influence whether cavities actually develop.

๐Ÿ”น Hindi nasunod ang aftercare instructions
๐Ÿ”น Poor oral hygiene

So hindi ibig sabihin na may discomfort after magpa-pasta ay may problem sa treatment. Sometimes, itโ€™s simply part of the healing and adjustment process ng ngipin after ma-treat. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Of course, kung tuloy-tuloy, lumalala, o hindi nawawala ang pananakit, itโ€™s always best to go back to your dentist para ma-check nang maayos. ๐Ÿฆทโœจ

Because most of the time, the earlier we check it, the more options we have to save the tooth, at mas mura pa! ๐Ÿ’ธ

Be honestโ€ฆ may tooth concern ka rin ba na hindi mo pa pinapa-check dahil hindi pa sumasakit or nagco-cause ng discomfort? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ˜… Huwag nang patagalin, dahil kapag lumala, for sure mas mahal ang treatment! ๐Ÿฅถ

Search and destroy
Self-protection measures
Seek early consultation

Always use a SOFT toothbrush & Brush Gently! ๐Ÿฅฐ
One cause of teeth sensitivity is overbrushing and wearing away of healthy teeth. This can lead to severe teeth sensitivity and gum recession.
How can you prevent this from happening at your home?
1. Avoid sawing action when brushing teeth. Brush up & down.
2. Use toothbrush with soft bristles
3. Do not press down hard when you brush your teeth. Go easy with your hand pressure.
4. The yellow colour that you see near the gums is the natural colour of root and tooth. Do not mistaken that as decay and end up brushing harder and causing further tooth wear.
If your teeth is already worn down, you can do the following....
1. See your dentist for a filling to replace the worn off tooth surface.
2. If the wear or sensitivity is minimum, you can use toothpaste for sensitive teeth and monitor the area. Simply apply the toothpaste to the sensitive area. Leave it there for 5-10mins. After that then do your normal brushing. Do it for a few days till sensitivity decreased.
* Always a good idea to check with your dentist if you have any discomfort.
Happy Weekend everyone!
