It may look like play — and it is.
In occupational therapy, play is purposeful.

Within play-based activities, we target the underlying skills children need to function more independently whether that’s regulating emotions, focusing in class, managing routines, interacting with others, or building confidence in everyday tasks.

We hear this question often and it’s a very valid one 🤍

While doctors focus on diagnosis and overall development, therapy evaluations look at how your child functions in daily life like movement, play, communication, self-care, and learning and help identify what specific support your child needs during therapy, including strategies that can also be done at home.

These evaluations guide therapists in creating an individualized, goal-directed and strengths-based therapy plan, so sessions are meaningful, targeted, and based on your child’s current skills.
