We are expanding our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation services. We need an HMO/Insurance Claims Clerk that manages the end-to-end processing of healthcare claims.
He / She will handle data entry, verify coverage, prepare invoices, track payments, and reconcile ledgers. This role ensures clinics or hospitals get reimbursed accurately and on time while maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
Core Responsibilities
1. Claims Processing & Filing
Review & Verify: Check patient charts, diagnoses, and procedures for accuracy. Document Management: Collect, organize, and submit complete claim forms (including Letters of Authorization, charge slips, and medical records) to HMOs and insurance providers.
Coding: Input accurate medical codes and ensure claims follow specific insurance guidelines.
Tracking: Maintain physical and electronic records of all filed claims to easily retrieve case data when needed.
2. Bookkeeping & Billing
Invoicing: Generate accurate statements, billings, and credit memos.
Posting Payments: Record and categorize received payments, deductibles, and co-pays into accounting software or spreadsheets.
Reconciliation: Match remittance advice from insurance companies against hospital or clinic ledgers to check for discrepancies.
Reporting: Prepare periodic Accounts Receivable (A/R) summaries and financial reports to monitor revenue flow.
3. Denials & Follow-Up
Follow-ups: Regularly contact insurance providers and patients regarding the status of pending, unpaid, or denied claims.
Appeals: Prepare and re-submit denied claims with the necessary documentation or revised information.
4. Customer Service & Compliance
Liaising: Communicate clearly with patients, doctors, and HMO representatives regarding benefit coverage, balances, and billing issues.
Data Privacy: Strictly adhere to the Data Privacy Act or HIPAA guidelines while handling sensitive patient health information (PHI) and financial records.
Qualifications & Key Skills Education:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Nursing (for allied medical background).
2. Experience: Previous experience in medical billing, accounting, or HMO processing in a hospital or clinic setting is an advantage but not necessary.
3. Skills: Proficiency in bookkeeping using spreadsheets (Excel) or electronic health record (EHR) systems.
4. Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical and math skills, and excellent communication
