HPV vaccination does not treat an existing HPV infection or HPV-related condition. Pero maaari pa rin itong makatulong na maprotektahan ka against other HPV types covered by the vaccine that you may not have encountered.

Akala ng marami, HPV protection is only a women’s health topic. Pero boys and men can also be affected by HPV.

Some HPV types are linked to ge***al warts and certain cancers, including a**l, pe**le, and oropharyngeal cancer, or cancer at the back of the throat.

For parents, timing matters. HPV vaccination works best when given before possible exposure to the virus. Under the Philippine childhood immunization schedule, it may begin at age 9 for both males and females.

The number of doses generally depends on the age when the series is started:

• Ages 9–14: usually 2 doses
• Age 15 or older: usually 3 doses
• Immunocompromised patients may need 3 doses regardless of age

Every patient is different. A healthcare professional should review your child’s age, health history, and any previous HPV doses before recommending the appropriate schedule.

HPV protection isn’t only for women.🧡

HPV can affect both men and women. Some types may cause ge***al warts, while other types are linked to certain cancers—including cervical, a**l, pe**le, va**nal, v***ar, and throat cancers.

Here are a few things to know:

👉 HPV vaccination can begin as early as age 9.
👉 It works best when given before exposure to HPV.
👉 Being sexually active does not automatically mean it is too late to ask about vaccination.
👉 The recommended number of doses depends on your age when the series began and certain health circumstances. It is not always three doses.
👉The vaccine helps prevent new HPV infections; it does not treat an existing infection.
