On September 1, 2026, at 4:31 PM, a residential fire struck Barangay Bagumbayan in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

The Philippine Red Cross deployed an ambulance from the Sta. Cruz, Laguna. On-site medical and welfare teams provided direct assistance, attending to a 53-year-old female patient by carefully monitoring her vital signs and providing compassionate Psychological First Aid (PFA) to help her cope with the distress of the incident.

While the cause of the fire and the total number of affected families and damaged houses are still currently being verified by authorities, Red Cross teams remain on standby to assist those in need.

Comprehensive relief, hot meals, health awareness, child-friendly spaces, and essential medical care for families displaced by severe weather! On September 1, 2026, the Philippine Red Cross mobilized multi-sectoral response operations across evacuation centers in San Carlos City and Dagupan City.

Working tirelessly on the ground, our response teams delivered vital services across two major deployment sites:

Aponit Elementary School Evacuation Center (San Carlos City): Reached 186 individuals with hot meals distribution, hygiene promotion and health awareness, distribution of face masks and insect repellent lotion, and setup of a Child-Friendly Space (CFS) serving 42 individuals and a First Aid Station catering to 10 individuals.

East Central Integrated School Evacuation Center (Dagupan City): Served hot meals to 362 individuals (211 males, 151 females), conducted health information dissemination on leptospirosis, diarrhea, and dengue prevention reaching 204 individuals (87 males, 117 females), provided Psychological Support Services (PSP) to 56 individuals (24 males, 32 females), and distributed 200 pieces of face masks.

On September 1, 2026, the Philippine Red Cross Bulacan Chapter maintained active operations under its Southwest Monsoon response, keeping teams on high alert and providing direct assistance to affected communities.

Operating around the clock, the chapter actively monitored its Area of Responsibility (AOR) and open evacuation centers, while alerting Red Cross 143 (RC143) volunteers to monitor and report any untoward incidents. In addition, teams distributed 5-kilo bags of rice to a total of 82 families in Malolos, generously donated by a Board Member:

Bulihan: 30 families served.

Santo Rosario: 26 families served.

Longos: 26 families served.

On September 1, 2026, the Philippine Red Cross Quezon City Chapter continued its relentless Enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) response, bringing vital relief to families staying at the evacuation center.

Driven by a dedicated mobilization of 4 volunteers on-site, our response teams successfully distributed Gardenia loaf bread (2 loaves per family) to a total of 250 families, reaching 1,238 individuals at the Bagong Silang Evacuation Center in Barangay Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

On the afternoon of August 31, 2026, the Philippine Red Cross Valenzuela City Chapter mobilized its health service teams to deliver crucial leptospirosis awareness sessions and educational brochures across evacuation centers in Valenzuela City.

PRC successfully reached a total of 48 adults:

Isla Elementary School: Conducted leptospirosis awareness and distributed brochures to 28 adults.
Malanday National High School

Covered Court: Conducted leptospirosis awareness and distributed brochures to 20 adults.

On September 1, 2026, as leptospirosis cases remain high, the Philippine Red Cross medical response teams continue their vital ward support and patient care at San Lazaro Hospital.

As of 2:00 PM today, cumulative operations have successfully catered to a total of 349 unique patients across the hospital wards (276 males and 73 females). For today's operations alone, the teams catered to a total of 151 patients, welcoming 39 new patients who required immediate medical attention (34 males and 5 females), alongside recording 1 discharge and 0 transfers.

Working hand-in-hand with hospital personnel, our deployed medical personnel continue delivering dedicated care across the hospital wards to ensure patients receive the vital support they need.

PRC successfully distributed Gardenia loaf bread alongside health Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials—focusing on leptospirosis, cough, and cold awareness—across two heavily affected communities:

• Brgy. Nangka (Settlement & Bayabas Community): Distributed 530 loaves of bread and IEC materials, serving 530 individuals.

• Brgy. Tumana (Lower Pipino Community): Distributed 500 loaves of bread and IEC materials, serving 500 individuals.

In total across both communities, operations successfully reached and served 1,030 individuals.
