HAPPENING NOW: As part of International Women’s Month, I’m honored to be part of the “Beyond Limits: Women Paving the Way” panel, hosted by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Quezon City.

Sharing my journey as a woman in leadership, I reflected on the challenges I faced—missing birthdays, sleeping in tents, and the heartbreaking moments of losing patients. There were times I doubted myself, but then I thought of the young girls watching me. They needed to see that a woman from Sulu could lead a national institution. And so, I kept going.

Let’s continue breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of strong, empowered women! 💪✨

HAPPENING NOW | I am honored to attend the Circular Economy Discussion with the theme “From Waste to Solutions: Building Partnerships for Sustainable Alternatives to Single-Use Plastics”, organized by the Philippine Red Cross and Spanish Red Cross in partnership with the European Union at The Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila.

Together with circular economy advocates and representatives from the local governments of Manila, Navotas and Zamboanga, we recognize the importance of strengthening partnerships in this platform. Collaboration is crucial in driving lasting change for both our communities and the environment. The Circular Economy Project demonstrates what is possible when we take action.

This initiative is a bold and essential step toward a sustainable future. We must continue exploring new solutions, take meaningful action, and ensure that our efforts lead to tangible results.

As we continue to expand the Philippine Red Cross’ mission of saving lives, I had the privilege of meeting with key representatives from the World Surgical Philippines (WSFP) and the Rotary Club of Makati Central to explore potential collaborations that could bring lifesaving surgical care to more people in need.

I was joined by our dedicated PRC team—Dr. Christie Monina Nalupta (Assistant Secretary General, Blood Services), Mr. Jaylord Abrigado (Safety Services), Ms. Criselda Longga (Disaster Management Service), and Mr. Mark Abrigo (Health Services)—as we engaged in insightful discussions with Dr. Lester Suntay (WSFP Head), Ms. Telle Pascual (WSFP), Past Rotary President Michael Chua, and Ms. Tisa Morrow (Rotary Club of Makati Central).

The World Surgical Foundation Philippines is committed to providing access to quality surgical healthcare, surgical equipment, and surgical education, ensuring that underserved communities receive the medical attention they deserve. We see a strong alignment between their mission and PRC’s commitment to accessible healthcare, disaster response, and community resilience.

This potential partnership opens doors to enhanced medical services, training opportunities, and expanded humanitarian efforts for those who need it most.

Pakinggan natin si Philippine Red Cross Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang sa kahalagahan ng pagbabahagi ng dugo sa nangangailangan at mga serbisyo ng Philippine Red Cross lalo na sa Blood donation. Ang panayam na ito ay umere noong February 13 ng umaga sa segment na UH Clinic ng Unang Hirit sa GMA 7.
