Last August 1, 2026, we had the privilege of conducting a lecture for salon barbers and staff on understanding the sensory sensitivities, behaviors, and communication needs of children during haircuts.

For many children—especially those with sensory processing differences—a haircut can be overwhelming. With the right knowledge, patience, and simple strategies, barbers can help transform what is often a stressful experience into one that is safe, positive, and empowering.

🌟 Introducing Pathway Therapy Center's Haircut Readiness Program

Our specialized program is designed to help children gradually build the confidence, sensory tolerance, and coping skills needed for successful haircuts in real-life barber shop settings.
Through therapist-guided sessions, children will learn to:
✅ Tolerate wearing a haircut cape
✅ Become comfortable with scissors, clippers, and other haircut tools
✅ Reduce anxiety related to sounds and touch
✅ Practice sitting calmly throughout the haircut
✅ Generalize these skills with our partner barbers

Pathway Therapy Center is now accepting enrollees for Cycle 2 of our Social Skills Programs:

🧩 Social Skills Training (Ages 4–9)
Designed for children who are learning to:
• Initiate and maintain conversations
• Take turns and cooperate with peers
• Understand emotions and social cues
• Build confidence in group settings
• Develop friendships through play and guided interaction

🤝 PEERS® Social Skills Program (Ages 10–19)
An evidence-based program that helps older children and teens learn practical skills for:
• Making and keeping friends
• Starting and joining conversations
• Handling disagreements and peer conflict
• Navigating social situations with confidence
• Building meaningful, lasting relationships

Our small-group sessions provide a fun, supportive, and structured environment where participants can practice real-life social skills with guidance from experienced therapists.

🌙✨April Life Skills Activity: Pajama Party! ✨🌙

Our playgroup classes had a wonderful time learning, socializing, and having fun in their favorite pajamas! Through engaging activities and group interactions, our little learners practiced important life skills such as communication, cooperation, sharing, and building frinedships.

Learning is always more fun when everyone is comfortable and smiling! 🥰
