Mastering the fundamentals of orthopedic trauma as a primary care physician 🩺🦴

A huge thank you to Dr. Albert Christian Borbon for delivering a high-yield lecture on “FRACTURE ABC: Assessment, Boost knowledge, and Control damage” last July 4, 2026.

After sharpening our clinical approach to acute bone injuries, our Family Medicine residents jumped straight into a hands-on splinting workshop! This ensures our residents are fully equipped to properly assess, stabilize, and immobilize acute fractures right when it matters most.

June 6, 2026 | The Hospital At Maayo - Department of Family and Community Medicine recently participated in a medical and legal mission at Brgy. Labogon, Mandaue City, Cebu. This initiative was organized by CGM Foundations Inc., in partnership with various Cebu-based NGOs.

Leading the medical front, our dedicated first-year residents provided free medical consultations and health screenings, and distributed medicines to the Mandauehanons — staying true to their commitment to advancing community health and wellness.

Congratulations to The Hospital At Maayo - Department of Family and Community Medicine First Year Residents Dr. Dan Samuel Burgos, Dr. Mark Lourence Cuyos, and Dr. Claurice Mangle on successfully delivering their first 𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒃𝒊𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒚 & 𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 (𝑴&𝑴) 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 presentation. The session was enriched by the active participation of our Family Medicine consultants and other residents.

M&M serves as one of the cornerstones of our residency program, allowing us to objectively review our patient cases, refine clinical practices, and strengthen patient care strategies to cultivate continuous learning opportunity and elevate our standard holistic care.

A vital lecture and workshop by our own training officer Dr. Jasmin U. Friberg entitled “𝙀𝙣𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙉𝙤𝙣-𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 (𝙉𝘾𝘿) 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩” for S.P.A.R.K. (Sharpening Primary care And Refining Knowledge) activity at The Hospital At Maayo. Dr. Friberg focused on how sharpening primary care capabilities and refining clinical knowledge are essential keys to effectively managing the growing global burden of NCDs, such as hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hyperuricemia.

From smarter screening to refined management strategies, the session was packed with actionable knowledge to help our Department of Family & Community Medicine residents and attending consultants better support patients living with NCDs.

The Hospital At Maayo - Department of Family and Community Medicine had the privilege of having Dr. Kevin Suobiron for an insightful didactic session and workshop on Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM). Dr. Suobiron provided a comprehensive breakdown of core EBM methodologies, guiding the residents from the principles of EBM to the critical appraisal and systematic reviews and effectively translate them in daily practice.

What an absolutely electric way to close out our World Family Doctor Day 2026 festivities last May 23, 2026 with a Zumba Party at The Hospital at Maayo. This was the ultimate culmination of our month-long Move Everyday Challenge.
