This is something i always tell my PCOS patients:

We don’t diagnose PCOS (POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME) basing on the presence or absence of cysts in the o***y. Its a SYNDROME- meaning collection of medical signs or symptoms that occur together indicating the condition.

Now thanks to the endocrine society, PCOS is renamed to PMOS-
POLYENDOCRINE METABOLIC OVARIAN SYNDROME
