Checking your blood pressure regularly is one of the simplest ways to detect hypertension early โ€“ but how you measure it matters.

Before taking your blood pressure, avoid smoking, exercise, caffeine and alcohol for at least 30 minutes. Sit upright, rest your arm at heart level, keep your feet flat on the floor, and stay calm and quiet during the reading.

Unhealthy eating habits, excessive intake of salty, fatty, and sugary foods, physical inactivity, stress, obesity, and family history are common risk factors for hypertension. The good news is that hypertension can be prevented and managed through healthy lifestyle practices and regular blood pressure monitoring.

Idineklara ng WHO ang isang Public Health Emergency of International Concern dahil sa pagkalat ng Ebola Disease na dulot ng Bundibugyo Virus sa Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at Uganda.

Walang kaso ng Ebola Disease sa bansa. Kasalukuyang mas pinapaigting ng DOH Bureau of Quarantine ang border at health surveillance sa lahat ng paliparan at pantalan bilang bahagi ng paghahanda at pag-iingat sa sakit.
