👁️ HOW YOUR EYES WORK: It’s Like Having a Built-In Camera!
Ever wondered how you can see the vibrant colors of a sunset, read this post, or spot your favorite food from across the room? Here’s the quick breakdown of your amazing eyes at work:
1. Light Enters First – Rays of light bounce off objects and enter your eye through the cornea (the clear outer layer), which bends light to help focus it.
2. The "Lens" Adjusts – Behind the colored iris (that’s what gives your eyes their color!) is the lens. It changes shape to focus light onto the retina at the back of your eye – just like adjusting the focus on a camera!
3. Signals to Your Brain – The retina is covered in tiny cells called rods (for low light/shapes) and cones (for color/detail). These convert light into electrical signals that travel through the optic nerve to your brain.
4. Your Brain Creates the Picture – The brain takes those signals and turns them into the clear, colorful images you see every single second!
Our eyes are total superheroes – but they need care too! Remember to take breaks from screens, get regular eye checks, and protect them from harsh sunlight.
