Hosted by the UP College of Nursing, this summit serves as a platform to showcase teaching innovations and evidence-based educational practices that will strengthen the preparation of future public health nurses and contribute to advancing Universal Health Care in the Philippines.

The wait is almost over, NurseLEADers. Tomorrow morning, we officially kick off the NurseLEAD Summit 2026.

Over the next two days, NurseLEAD graduates will come together for capstone presentations, meaningful discussions, and the opportunity to reconnect with fellow nurse educators, all in celebration of completing the NurseLEAD Course and our shared commitment to advancing public health nursing education and practice.

Mark your calendars for the NurseLEAD Summit on July 9-10, 2026!

This invitation-only event celebrates the successful completion of the NurseLEAD Course, a program that has been empowering public health nursing educators and leaders since 2021.

The Summit will bring together NurseLEAD graduates to showcase their capstone projects, reconnect with fellow educators and nurse leaders, and participate in enriching field visits that provide new insights into advancing community health.

More than a celebration, the NurseLEAD Summit 2026 is an opportunity to strengthen the competencies of nursing educators in public health nursing and continue supporting public health nurses as they take on expanded roles under the Universal Health Care Act.

Let us look back on the valuable learnings, meaningful collaborations, and transformative experiences from the NurseLEAD Educators Batch 7 Face-to-Face Sessions and Onsite Workshops held on June 1–3, 2026.

Led by the University of the Philippines Manila College of Nursing, the three-day program featured interactive integration activities, collaborative learning experiences, and the development of capstone project proposals that will be implemented across nursing education institutions nationwide. Designed to strengthen the competencies of Public Health Nursing educators, the program marks another significant milestone in advancing public health nursing education in the Philippines.

The University of the Philippines Manila College of Nursing successfully concluded the NurseLEAD Educators Batch 7 Face-to-Face Sessions and Onsite Workshops held from June 1-3, 2026.

The three-day program strengthened the competencies of Public Health Nursing educators through interactive learning activities and the development of capstone project proposals for implementation across nursing education institutions nationwide. These efforts represent an important step toward advancing public health nursing education within the BSN program.

The College proudly congratulates the new NurseLEAD Educator graduates for their dedication to excellence, leadership, and innovation in nursing education. Together, we will continue our mission of empowering nursing educators and shaping the future of Public Health Nursing in the Philippines.

LOOK | The fourth and final module session of the NurseLEAD Course: Enhancing Faculty Competencies in Teaching Public Health Nursing in the BSN Program Batch 7 was successfully conducted, bringing together nurse educators for a meaningful culmination of learning and collaboration.

The session focused on Module 4: Teaching Public Health Nursing and featured discussions on key areas essential to strengthening outcomes-based nursing education. Asst. Prof. Arnold B. Peralta presented the Curricular Frameworks in Developing Public Health Competencies in the BSN Program, highlighting competency-based and outcomes-based education as foundational approaches in nursing curricula.

Assoc. Prof. Luz Barbara P. Dones discussed Competencies for Entry-Level Professional Practice in Public Health Nursing and the Global Competency Framework for Universal Health Care, emphasizing the alignment of nursing education with evolving population health needs.

Prof. Sheila R. Bonito, Dean of the UP College of Nursing, further enriched the session through her discussion on Developing Instructional Design for Public Health Nursing Courses, focusing on learning outcomes, instructional planning, scaffolding strategies, and the selection of appropriate learning resources.

The session also featured a capstone presentation showcasing innovative approaches to integrating technology and instructional design in community health nursing education, followed by breakout discussions, reflective learning activities, and synthesis of key challenges in implementing outcome-based frameworks in BSN programs.

As the final module of the NurseLEAD Batch 7 series, the session marked a meaningful conclusion to the program, highlighting the continued commitment of nurse educators in advancing public health nursing education, strengthening competencies, and preparing future-ready nursing graduates.

LOOK | The third module session of the NurseLEAD Course: Enhancing Faculty Competencies in Teaching Public Health Nursing in the BSN Program Batch 7 was successfully conducted, bringing together nurse educators from across the country for a meaningful learning and collaboration experience.

The session focused last May 23, 2026 on Module 3: Collaboration in Public Health Nursing Interventions and featured insightful discussions from distinguished resource persons. Dean Betty F. Merritt discussed Interprofessional Communication, emphasizing the vital role of effective communication in strengthening collaboration and coordination within healthcare teams. Prof. Josephine E. Cariaso highlighted Teamwork and Team-Based Practice, underscoring the importance of interprofessional teamwork, conflict management, and collaborative decision-making in achieving quality health outcomes.

Participants also learned about Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice through a recorded presentation by Prof. Ma. Angela Mabale, while Prof. Maria Rita V. Tamse explored the principles and applications of Risk Communication, highlighting the critical role of public health nurses in communicating risks and promoting community resilience.

These activities provided valuable opportunities for reflection, knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of competencies essential for teaching and leading public health nursing education.

LOOK | The second module session of the NurseLEAD Course: Enhancing Faculty Competencies in Teaching Public Health Nursing in the BSN Program Batch 7 was successfully held last May 16, 2026.

The session featured insightful discussions by Professor Luz Barbara Dones on Public Health Services and Public Health Nursing Competencies, as well as Public Health Nursing as a Population-Based Practice, highlighting essential public health functions, nursing competencies, intervention models, and their application in community-based programs.

Dr. Carlo Irwin Panelo also joined the module to discuss Integrated Services and the Continuum of Care, focusing on healthcare system challenges, Universal Health Care (UHC), and the impact of key UHC Act provisions on strengthening health systems and improving health outcomes.

The activity provided participants with meaningful learning opportunities that continue to enhance leadership, collaboration, management, and teaching competencies in public health nursing.
