🌏 Strengthening Research. Advancing Public Health.

The Institute of Herbal Medicine (IHM) proudly participated in the WHO Western Pacific Expert Consultation on Shaping the Future of Research and Development (R&D) Ecosystems for Public Health, held on 22–23 July 2026 in Manila.

Representing the Institute was Director Daisy-Mae Bagaoisan, who joined experts from across the Western Pacific Region in discussions on strengthening research and innovation ecosystems, fostering regional collaboration, and accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into health technologies, policies, and interventions that improve public health outcomes.

IHM remains committed to contributing to evidence-based research, innovation, and strategic partnerships that advance health and well-being in the Philippines and across the region.

🌿 **A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us!**

The **Seminar on the Use of Herbal Plants as Medicines** was a meaningful afternoon of learning and discussion as we explored the safe, proper, and evidence-based use of medicinal plants.

Participants learned about:
🌱 Medicinal plants for common symptoms and diseases
⚠️ Herbal medicine safety and toxic plants
🫖 Proper preparation of medicinal plants
🌿 Propagation and appropriate harvesting practices

The Institute of Herbal Medicine extends its sincere appreciation to the **Barangay Kapitolyo Committee on Education** and the **Committee on Environment** for partnering with us in promoting informed and responsible use of herbal medicines within the community. Thank you also to Sir Kobe Felicia for hosting us.

Together, we continue to strengthen public awareness by bridging **traditional knowledge** with **scientific research**—toward healthier Filipino communities.
