PAGGAWAD 2026 KEYNOTE SPEAKER EMPHASIZES "MALASAKIT" IN NURSING
Marikina Valley Medical Center Nursing & Patient Care Services Director, Ms. Ivy Gay S. Alcantara encouraged SBLCian Nurses to put a heart in nursing care, during the clinical graduation dubbed as Paggawad 2026 on August 20, 2026.
Ms. Alcantara's message revolved around the theme of Paggawad 2026 "Shift the Standard: Transform Nursing Care to Serve and Heal," where she emphasized that the greatest strength of a nurse will never be their ability to operate sophisticated equipment, but their ability to care, to show compassion, to show "Malasakit".
Sharing her own experiences as a nurse, the Keynote Speaker reminded the clinical graduates that success is not only measured by promotions or titles, but by the lives they touch.
She left one challenge to the nurses - to shift the standard with excellence, compassion, courage, humility and integrity.
The diverse community of SBLC extends our gratitude to Ms. Alcantara for her inspiring and challenging words to our clinical graduates.
Ranked among the World’s Top 1001–1500 in the 2026 Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings, SBLC continues to advance Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by providing meaningful learning opportunities and fostering knowledge and skills through engagement with inspiring healthcare leaders.
