🌱 Help your teen build meaningful connections—starting at home.

Sometimes, the most meaningful conversations with our teens begin with the simplest questions and those moments can become the foundation for lasting connection.

Join The Medical City Institute of Pediatrics and Center for Developmental Pediatrics for next month’s Parent Class in the Language Series: From Conversations to Connections: Helping Teens Thrive Socially.

Together, we'll explore how everyday conversations can help teens feel heard, build confidence, navigate friendships, and develop the social skills they need to flourish.

Come learn, reflect, and grow with other parents as we discover how small changes in the way we communicate can make a lasting difference.

A lot of kids genuinely want to do well at school…but they don’t always know what to DO when they feel overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, distracted, wiggly, angry, shut down, or emotionally overloaded.

That’s where explicit self-regulation tools can completely change the tone of a classroom.

This resource gives students 50 classroom-appropriate coping strategies they can actually use independently during the school day instead of relying on constant adult prompting or escalating into bigger behaviors.

What I love most is how visual and concrete everything is. The coping tools are broken down into kid-friendly choices with task cards, spinners, feeling wheels, checklists, posters, and interactive digital activities that help students connect feelings with helpful actions.

So instead of hearing:
“I don’t know what to do…”

Students start learning things like:
“I need a movement break.”
“I need help breaking this assignment into smaller steps.”
“I need to breathe and calm my body first.”

It’s such a practical, supportive way to build self-regulation, emotional awareness, independence, and calmer classrooms without shame, clip charts, or power struggles.

The years don’t disappear. They become the tree.

This one made me pause a little.

Because I don’t always associate service with joy.
Sometimes it just feels like… a lot.

But that’s the invitation here...to let something deeper come through, even in the ordinary moments.
