The Power of Consent: Building Competency and Connection in Organ and Tissue Donation

Organ donation is more than a medical procedure—it is a decision grounded in compassion, ethics, and community trust.

To build a strong network of informed advocates in Camarines Sur, BMC TOPS hosted an advocacy lecture focusing on Organ and Tissue Donation, Bicol Experience in Kidney Transplantation, and Legal Mandates and Ethical Foundation, bringing together nurses, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) from Canaman, Magarao, and Bombon.

The discussion offered a deep dive into the practical reality of organ transplantation in the Bicol Region, showcasing local achievements in kidney transplants while establishing the legal and ethical boundaries that uphold donor dignity.

Equipped with these insights, our community health frontliners are stepping up to lead compassionate conversations in every household, ensuring that accurate information replaces fear and misconception.

Thank you to all participants for your dedication to continuous learning and community care! 👏

Organ donation is more than a medical procedure, it is an opportunity to extend and improve the lives of patients with end-stage organ failure. 🫀

Thank you to everyone who joined our recent KonsulTalk on "Organ Donation: The Gift of Life." We hope the discussion helped foster a better understanding of organ donation, dispelled common misconceptions, and highlighted the importance of informed decision-making.

Let us continue the conversation by promoting awareness and supporting initiatives that strengthen organ donation in the Philippines. 🩺
