Alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 10028 o ang Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, itinataguyod ang mga Mother-Baby Friendly Workplaces & Health Facilities at Breastfeeding & Nutrition Support Groups upang mabigyan ang mga nagpapasusong ina ng sapat na suporta, tamang kaalaman, at isang kapaligirang nakatutulong sa patuloy na pagpapasuso.

Sama-sama nating itaguyod ang mga programang tumutulong sa mga nagpapasusong ina para masiguro ang kalusugan ng bawat sanggol.

Office of the President Proclamation No. 1006 declares August 21 as a Special Non-Working Day in commemoration of Ninoy Aquino Day.

NOTE: As a DOH-retained hospital, BMC's wards and Emergency Department will still operate 24/7.

IN PHOTOS | Last Monday, Bicol Medical Center kicked off its week-long celebration with an incredibly vibrant opening program at the BMC Auditorium.

This year's Hospital Week celebration is guided by this year's National Theme, "Juan Health for JuaNation: Makabagong Teknolohiya sa Ospital na Mapagkalinga," and the BMC Theme, "Celebrating Service, Excellence, Camaraderie: Strengthening One BMC Towards Quality Health Care for All."

The morning featured the Grand Parade of Colors, loud cheers for the Team Muses, and the solemn Oath of Sportsmanship.

After the ceremonial lighting of the torch, the UNC and NCF Bands and Majorettes performed a special intermission number before the most anticipated event of the day: the fierce Zumba Dance Competition!

Beyond the games and festivities, Hospital Week is a dedicated time for our healthcare workers to pause and breathe. It is our way of stepping back from the frontlines to celebrate their hard work, boost team morale, and honor the extraordinary resilience that keeps our hospital thriving day in and day out.

This year, our celebration is guided by two powerful themes that reflect this mission:

| Advancing Ethical Research at Bicol Medical Center through The 1st BMC Research Integrity Training

As a premier tertiary hospital and training institution in the region, BMC is committed not only to delivering excellent patient care but also to advancing medical knowledge through scientific research. However, the value of medical research relies entirely on its credibility. Research misconduct such as plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and unethical authorship compromises patient safety, wastes valuable institutional resources, and erodes public trust in healthcare professionals.

To protect this trust, this pioneering training was designed to equip our healthcare professionals with the core principles of scientific integrity. Our goal is to ensure that every piece of institutional research at BMC is conducted, documented, and published according to the highest ethical and professional standards.

The intensive workshop kicked off with comprehensive morning lectures covering the fundamentals of research integrity, authorship, and the role of artificial intelligence.

The afternoon session shifted focus to predatory journals, moving into collaborative small group case discussions, a plenary session, and a synthesis of the first day.

On the second day, participants began with a recap before diving into critical morning lectures on questionable research practices, specifically falsification, fabrication, and plagiarism. The afternoon was dedicated to concluding the case discussions, group reporting, and a final plenary session, culminating in an overall synthesis and the closing ceremonies.

We are incredibly proud of our dedicated participants: research coordinators, advisors, resident physicians, the Research Committee, and the Research Ethics Committee. Thank you for prioritizing integrity in every study and innovation!

Welcoming a new chapter for Philippine health care.

The Department of Health and PhilHealth welcomes Dr. Edwin M. Mercado as the new Secretary of Health, and Dr. Beverly Lorraine C. Ho as PhilHealth’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

As both agencies open another chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Jose "Brix" Pujalte for his dedicated service. We wish him strength and a full recovery as he now focuses on regaining his health.

The President’s marching orders are clear: promote wellness, prevent disease, strengthen primary care, and champion zero-balance billing for facility-based care—so that no Filipino family is forced to carry a burden it was never meant to bear.

Last August 13, 2026, the Bicol Medical Center – Department of Pediatrics actively participated in the Philippine Pediatric Society's Annual Nationwide HAKAB 'TA Event.

Guided by this year's theme, “One Love, One Latch, One Nation – Prioritize Breastfeeding, Create Sustainable Support Systems,” the event highlighted breastfeeding as an integral pillar for the health of Filipino mothers and babies.

Our goal is clear: to strengthen local support systems for breastfeeding through meaningful, continuous collaboration with our healthcare staff and community breastfeeding advocates.

One Love, One Latch, One Nation.
