KAAGAPAY COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM 2026

Healing does not only happen inside the clinic. Thus, Kaagapay returned to the community to facilitate trauma-informed psychological activities for young people.

Through body-based regulation, emotional regulation techniques, creative arts activities, and guided group processing, we created a space where participants could reconnect with themselves, express emotions safely, and learn practical ways to manage stress.

Building emotional awareness, regulation skills, and supportive relationships before a crisis occurs helps strengthen individuals and communities alike.

Community mental health is not simply about responding when problems arise. It is about bringing psychological services closer to the people who need them most.

What should a psychology internship leave behind? Competence is important. So are clinical skills. But we hope our interns leave with something even deeper: an understanding that psychology is ultimately about 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲.

This reflection from one of our Kaagapay interns reminded us why we continue building this program.

Those words capture what we hope every intern carries into their future practice—that behind every diagnosis is a person, behind every case is a story, and behind every intervention is a responsibility to serve with competence, humility, and compassion.

Our goal is not simply to complete internship hours. We aim to develop psychologists who can think critically, practice ethically, and appreciate the many settings where psychology can create meaningful change: from the clinic to the community, and beyond.

July 2026 reminded me that no two forensic evaluations are ever the same.

This month alone included psychological evaluations involving declaration of nullity, child abuse, VAWC, and decision-making capacity.

While every case differs in its legal questions and clinical presentation, one thing remains constant: each evaluation demands careful assessment, professional judgment, and ethical responsibility.

Today’s video captures one small part of that process: signing my Judicial Affidavit in the notary office.

The courtroom may be the most visible part of forensic psychology, but it is only the final step in a much longer process.
