Following the recent concern involving a passenger who was reportedly left behind by an OceanJet vessel, City Councilor and Chairperson of the Committee on Transportation and Franchising, Hon. Eusebio Gerardo โ€œDoc. Gerryโ€ S. Penserga, called for a meeting with representatives of OceanJet to hear their side and discuss the circumstances surrounding the incident.

During the meeting, OceanJetโ€™s Operation Manager and concerned customer service/ground handling personnel presented their explanation regarding the incident and the actions taken in response.

Doc. Gerry emphasized the importance of passenger safety, proper coordination, clear communication, and accountability in the delivery of public transportation services. He likewise sought concrete measures from the company to ensure that appropriate protocols are strengthened and that a similar situation will not happen again.

The meeting serves as part of the continuing effort to listen to concerns, address issues, and work with transportation service providers toward safer, more reliable, and passenger-centered services for the people of Ormoc.

August 4, 2026 | The 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Ormoc City, led by the Vice Mayor and Presiding Officer, Hon. Leo Carmelo "Toto" Locsin, Jr., has unanimously approved "An Ordinance Establishing the Ormoc City Hospital, Defining its Mandate and Functions, Creating its Plantilla of Positions, Appropriating Funds Therefor, and for Other Purposes"

Authored and sponsored by SP Member Dr. Eusebio Gerardo S. Penserga, Chairperson of the Committee on Health, Nutrition and Sanitation.

Co-Authored by SP Members Atty. Ari G. Larrazabal (Chairperson, Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure Development) and Atty. Jasper M. Lucero (Chairperson, Committee on Civil Service, Appointments and Government Organization).

The ordinance outlines the organizational structure, staffing requirements, funding mechanisms, and operational guidelines for the upcoming medical facility. Once constructed, the hospital will significantly expand accessible healthcare services for Ormocanons.
