Today was "children and seniors day" at the clinic, given the long weekend, not surprisingly. Had to open the clinic for them during this holiday. Former OSCA Chairman Manuel V. Santos once requested on his sick bed -- "tulungan ninyo ang mga bata; tulungan ninyo ang mga matatanda..."

From 31 August to 4 September 2026, the Global Week for Action on NCDs puts a spotlight on the urgent need to prevent and control noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and ensure they receive the attention and action they deserve — everywhere, for everyone.

NCDs, including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases and mental health conditions, are the #1 cause of death and disability worldwide.

Following the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs and mental health, 2026 is a critical year to turn political commitments into action, investment, accountability and measurable progress. With fewer than five years left to achieve the 2030 global NCD targets, leadership at every level matters — from governments and policymakers to communities, people with lived experience and partners across sectors.

It’s time to move from commitments to action, from promises to progress, and to make NCDs a priority.

Dengue fever is a viral infection spread through the bite of infected *Aedes* mosquitoes, but the good news is that simple, healthy habits can help prevent its spread. 🌿

Keep your family and community safe by eliminating standing water where mosquitoes can breed—check buckets, containers, flower pots, gutters, and other areas around your home. Protect yourself from mosquito bites by using mosquito repellent, wearing long-sleeved clothing, and using mosquito nets or screens when needed. 🦟🚫

Be aware of the warning signs of dengue, including sudden high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, and skin rashes.** If symptoms become severe or bleeding occurs, seek medical attention immediately. 🏥

✨ Prevention starts with us. By keeping our surroundings clean, removing breeding places, and practicing healthy habits, we can work together to reduce dengue cases and protect the people we love.
