CONGRATULATIONS, DR. MARIEL CANDICE VERCELES!

Cana Optical Clinic proudly congratulates our very own Dr. Mariel Candice Verceles on earning her COEP Certification in Behavioral Neuro-Optometry from the Optometric Extension Program Foundation (OEPF)!

This achievement required completing the four OEPF Clinical Curriculum courses: Art & Science, VT 1 (Visual Dysfunctions), VT 2 (Learning-Related Disorders), VT 3 (Strabismus and Amlyopia), and successfully passing the required examination.

The certification represents advanced training in behavioral and neuro-optometry, vision therapy, and understanding how the visual system and brain work together to support learning, development, and visual performance.

We are so proud of your dedication to continuous learning and excellence in patient care!

HETEROCHROMIA (DIFFERENT-COLORED EYES)

Have you ever seen someone with two different-colored eyes?
That's called heterochromia!

It can appear as:
-One eye having a different color from the other
- A section of the iris having a different color
- different-colored ring around the pupil

Many people are simply born with heterochromia and have perfectly healthy eyes. However, if the color difference is new or suddenly changing, it’s a good idea to have an eye examination.

Your eyes may look simple, but there’s a lot going on behind them! Regular eye examinations can help detect changes early and keep your vision on track.

-Wash your hands before applying makeup�
-Never share eye makeup�
-Replace old mascara regularly�
-Don't use makeup when you have an eye infection�
-Keep makeup applicators clean
-Never add water or saliva to dried-out mascara

If your eyes become red, swollen, painful, or irritated after using makeup, stop using it and have your eyes checked.
