Whenever kids show off their medals and certificates at the clinic, I am like a mom getting giddy, excited and extremely happy for their achievements.

Our Bibo Kid feature for today is pretty and talented Eliana.

She came to the clinic carrying her 4 Gold Medals she got from her 1st Gymnastics Recital 👏👏

She was sick few days before the event. Thank God she was better the day before the recital and was able to practice.

Congratulations, Lily! We are so proud of you! Keep shining!🥰

The rainy season increases mosquito breeding, leading to a higher risk of mosquito-borne illnesses in children. Early recognition and prevention can help protect your family.

Here are some mosquito-borne diseases during rainy season.

1. Dengue Fever
• High fever (often sudden onset)
• Severe headache
• Pain behind the eyes
• Muscle and joint pains
• Nausea and vomiting
• Skin rash
• Easy bruising or bleeding (nosebleeds, gum bleeding)
• Drowsiness or irritability in severe cases

2. Chikungunya
• Sudden high fever
• Severe joint pain
• Headache
• Muscle aches
• Rash
• Fatigue

3. Zika Virus Disease
• Mild fever
• Rash
• Red eyes (conjunctivitis)
• Joint pain
• Headache

4. Malaria
• Fever with chills
• Sweating
• Headache
• Fatigue
• Vomiting
• Poor appetite

PREVENTION
• Eliminate stagnant water around the home.
• Use mosquito repellents appropriate for children: Anti-mosquito lotion, patch, mist or spray
• Wear long-sleeved clothing and pants.
• Install window screens and use mosquito nets.
• Encourage community clean-up drives.
• Malaria requires prompt medical evaluation.
• Specific anti-malarial medications are prescribed depending on the type of malaria.

TREATMENT
• Ensure adequate hydration (water, oral rehydration solutions).
• Give paracetamol/acetaminophen for fever.
• Avoid ibuprofen, mefenamic acid, and aspirin unless advised by a physician.
• Seek immediate medical attention for warning signs:
◦ Persistent vomiting
◦ Severe abdominal pain
◦ Bleeding
◦ Difficulty breathing
◦ Excessive sleepiness
◦ Reduced urine output

When Should Parents Seek Immediate Medical Care?

Bring your child to the nearest healthcare facility if they have:
• High fever lasting more than 2–3 days
• Difficulty breathing
• Persistent vomiting
• Signs of dehydration
• Severe abdominal pain
• Seizures
• Bleeding from the nose, gums, or stool
• Unusual sleepiness or difficulty waking up
