How does the body speak in developmental language?
Iron deficiency speaks through inattention. Parasites speak through tantrums. A struggling thyroid speaks through silence. A gut in pain speaks through aggression.
Behind every behaviour is a biology. Behind every biology is a cause. Behind every cause is a why that deserves a real answer.
And every why begins with a story.
The developing brain is not separate from the body it lives in. It is built by it - nourished by its nutrients, powered by its hormones, protected by its immune system, shaped by its experiences, and vulnerable to everything the body carries.
Every medical condition that touches the body influences the brain. Every system that falters takes something from the child's development — quietly, incrementally, often invisibly, until the sum of what was taken finally becomes visible in a clinic.
The developmental pediatrician carries two things into every consultation: a medical lens trained on the whole body and a deep, unhurried willingness to receive the story that only this family can tell, and the lived experience that ties all of it together.
