Did You Know? Not all animal bites and scratches carry the same level of rabies risk. 🩺
Knowing the type of exposure can help determine the right treatment and protect you from a disease that is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.
✅ Category I – Touching or feeding animals: No PEP needed
⚠️ Category II – Minor scratches or bites without bleeding: Rabies vaccination is recommended
🚨 Category III – Bites, scratches with bleeding, or saliva exposure to broken skin/mucous membranes: Immediate medical attention, rabies vaccine, and rabies immunoglobulin may be needed
💡 When in doubt, seek medical consultation immediately. Early treatment saves lives!
