Ready to Respond: DVPSMDH Completes Second Batch of First Aid Training

The Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital conducted its 2nd batch of 3-day in-house Standard First Aid Training from May 19-21, 2026. The training covered essential skills, including splinting and immobilizing dislocations, applying bandages to stop bleeding, proper patient lifting, and recognizing and responding to emergencies, especially in pre-hospital settings.

Led by Acting Chief Nurse Vic Leonard Irin Belloga, the DVPSMDH Nursing Service Office collaborated with IPG-HMO and other district hospitals to enhance and update the delivery of quality health services.

The training aimed to equip Valerian frontline workers with the confidence and skills to respond effectively in emergencies. By providing standard first aid training to its staff, DVPSMDH boosts its readiness to handle emergencies by ensuring staff have proper life-saving skills not only in the hospital setting but also in the community whenever their service is needed.

Building Better Care, One Step at a Time

On May 14-15, 2026, the DVPSMDH team of doctors, nurses, and nursing attendants didn’t just show up for work β€” they showed up to learn, sharpen their skills, and bring better care home to Iloilo.

Here’s what happened:

Day 1: Hands-On Workshop on Wound & Stoma Care . Held at WVSUMC Cancer Center, the team trained on:
β€’ Proper suturing techniques for faster healing
β€’ Holistic wound care
β€’ Stoma care for patients adjusting after surgery

Because in recovery, every detail matters.β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

Day 2: Surgical Emergencies 2.0
At Diversion 21 Hotel, DVPSMDH delegates joined fellow healthcare workers for deep dives into neonatal emergencies, surgical abdomen cases, and trauma management.

Proud moment: Dr. Randy B. Portigo, Chief of Hospital II, was invited as a trauma panelist β€” sharing DVPSMDH’s experience and learning alongside other experts. πŸ‘

πŸ“’Why it matters to you:
These trainings mean faster response in emergencies, safer surgeries, and better wound care right here at DVPSMDH. No need to travel far for quality care.

We’re committed to continuous learning, a stronger team, and patient safety first.
Padayon, DVPSMDH! πŸ’ͺπŸ₯
